install speedtest.net apk in the box and run a test using the default singapore server. If you can get more than 10Mbps then you wifi is good enough.

Precisely what I was saying, getting 90%-100% of my 100mbps plan on wifi using ookla speed test to local server.

USB to Ethernet getting 50mbps only, throttled by the adaptor.

bros, another question about the mibox:

there are 2 different versions on Qoo - one is the 1GB version and the other is the 4GB version. boths sellers claim their version is the latest and greatest:

1) Qoo10 - LOCAL SELLER 3rd Gen Latest Version Xiaomi TV Box Free HK Movie : TV, Camera & Audio (1GB)

2) Qoo10 - **GIFT! GIFT! GIFT!** (2GB)

so which one is the best one to get?

ok guys, i have successfully rooted the box but however still unable to sign in to playstore.. keep getting the message "There was a problem communicating with Google servers", i have installed and ran the 谷歌安装器 and no errors were reported..

not sure what am i missing?

Do you all have problem streaming Chinese drama, especially from youku, pptv that are block in Singapore? if you all does not have a VPN, what do you guys use?

If you use the right apks, you can stream drama/movies from china servers smoothly without using VPN. Youku破解版 is one of them. But it has many versions, not all work properly.

There are a few version of Youku破解版, some already expired.

install the 电视必备 in shafa market, then click on youku in 电视必备. This version is good.

Instead of Mibox, I bought a Jesurun from kingsbuying.com. It seems not a quite well-known Android TV box, but works like a charm. I spent about $96 on it. Or you can check it out if you need Android TV box.

Which method of Google playstore installation did you follow? Was it using the Google Installer app?

I think I encountered it before when I did it myself a few times, it was quite random. I don't remember what exactly fixed it but these are what I tried...

Uninstall all the Google apps
Forget wifi network(I use Unotelly DNS)
Clear all cache
Reboot mi box
Connect again to wifi
Reinstall Google apps using the installer

Other suggestions would be using Google Public DNS on your network: 8.8.8.8 , 8.8.4.4
