Hi all,

I am using 网趣云加速 for China VPN, this program gives me 2 months of free trial.
However it is ending soon.

Do you all have problem streaming Chinese drama, especially from youku, pptv that are block in Singapore? if you all does not have a VPN, what do you guys use?

I saw there is a Youku破解版, does this require VPN?

I have other method, you may want to try it. Let us know if it works

Installed but not very sure how to use. My Chinese is horrible =x

Which method of Google playstore installation did you follow? Was it using the Google Installer app?

I think I encountered it before when I did it myself a few times, it was quite random. I don't remember what exactly fixed it but these are what I tried...

Uninstall all the Google apps
Forget wifi network(I use Unotelly DNS)
Clear all cache
Reboot mi box
Connect again to wifi
Reinstall Google apps using the installer

Other suggestions would be using Google Public DNS on your network: 8.8.8.8 , 8.8.4.4

Hey buddy, thanks again, i did the method you shared but i kinda installed other versions of gplay before following yours. Ill head back and do a factory reset and start over. Then try your method if it still doesnt work.

My set finally came delivered from Lazada.
Model: MDZ-09-AA

I think my box states in mandarin that its 1GB and 4GB storage.
Probably Ram and Storage i guess?

Anyhow when do system check seems that i have 2GB ram.

I mainly using this as a replacement for my WDTVLive whose main function is just to stream via DLNA/uPNP/SAMBA from my NAS.

I am able to detect all the neccessary drives on my NAS from the Xiaomi TV's basic Video App, which i find not to bad as it allows me to view all my network folders and browse through all content via the player.

When in video the ability to live download chinese subs is also quite a nice touch.

However i find that increasingly many of the videos cant seem to output audio? is this a codec limitation from the Xiaomi Video Player?

Any of you have any other player to recommend, i cant get MX player and ES Explorer to detect my NAS though.

hi guys, where can I get this xiaomi box other than getting it via lazada/qoo10? any physical shops carry it? wanted to get one from qoo10 but i feel like its a ripoff with the options that they offer. i want to buy the box itself and root etc all by myself. anyone can share?

Then Lazada is the best deal you can get IMHO.

Most shops outside like in SLS will sell it preinstalled with different apps. I don't think they will cut down the price if you want in stock condition.

The Mi Box is "Jailbreak" as it is in stock condition.

The term jailbreak means you can "sideload" apps onto the mi box via remote install(PC to Mi box in same network) or copying the apk file onto a thumbdrive.

There are some free apps you can install using Shafa Market to watch EPL that streams using Malaysia Astro Sport channels, you'll see the name of the app on the last few posts(sorry i don't know how to read chinese)

There is a company selling older version of Mi Box (MDZ-06-AA) at $99 at Expo. I believe they are selling a rooted version because they can install a lot of apps easily. They loaded tons of apps - 光芒体育, HDPTv, Popcorn time etc..

Basically they told me that HDPTv (TW, HK, KR channels) and 光芒体育 (sports) are live TV streaming, can effectively substitute all the channels for local TV. Being a noob, I bought the set not knowing anything - how the box works, how to find apps, and that the Mi Box is an older version....

Long story short. HDPTv and 光芒体育 works brilliantly at home. However, I could not find 卫视中文台, this channel with all the talkshows eg一代女王。Can anyone recommend an app that can receive this channel? The KR channels do not work though...

Also, the other apps like YouKu, PPTV, PPS runs super slow and most of the videos dont load. Anyway around this problem? I will try the YouKu破解版to see if it works.
