just got this box, slightly disappointed with it but i've played with it enough to answer your queries

1 - yes its able to support, not sure how many codecs are supported. i've put in a couple of videos and this far 1 wasn't supported. seems pretty decent to me

2 - miracast works, however the display is grainy and looks upscaled on my 1080p tv. also display isn't in full screen either. i've been searching for ways or hacks to improve image quality but it seems like there is none. miracast was supposed to be HDMI without wires. feel like it's a huge miss.

I also want to know........their website say they will frequently update the set....is it new firmware or new app or apps update?
Because...I wonder after jailbreak.....if they still auto update...then will the jailbreak being over right? They only mention say don update the don know wat tv app...I cant rem...

I dont know, just got the box yesterday and the default xiaomi software is useless to me cause im malay so i cant read chinese. Im not using the box to watch chinese shows and the hollywood movies they provide ive never seen or heard before.
This far im only using the device for xbmc to play my own movies. Other than that nothing much. I cant get google play store to be installed on it although ive managed to root the device and install 3rd party apps.
I think that android fire tv might have been a better purchase, least i can purchase vpn to usa and watch american streams like hulu. Dont see any hulu link on this box. Maybe need to side load the hulu app.
Will try again and see how it goes

Alternatively can conside the neo x7 or something, that device has multiple usb ports as compared to xiaomis 1. The controller for that seems cheap and plastic though, this xiaomi controller feels premium. As flush as appletvs controller even.

Haha I have the neo x7...at first is ok one.....then now it start to get lagging and sometime hang and auto off. from the xiaomi website demo video thought is a better choice and price cheaper by atleast $50-100.

I order on 27....till date haven received............

NOW hear so many negative feedback....sad sia before even receive item

Seems like no need vpn to watch movies from xiaomi, only thing is if you wanna watch or not. The movies are not jackie chang movies leh, they are mostly unknown movies.
The best i can find is monkey god the movie with donnie yen. Otherwise there is chung ching express and the red redemption. Thts all the movies i can find.
Xbmc is the best app to use on it i feel. Else wait for somebody to dump amazon fire tv and hope tbe apps can be installed on xiaomo tv.

But as ive said, i cant get goole play store to be installed. There are people online who say they can get it instaaled but ive no idea how theyve managed to flash the gapps zip fule without cm recovery.

Hey, the 2 recent jackie chan movies are there: police story and the zodiac one. Recent hk chinese movies are there for viewing even some r21 ones. They are available usually 3mths after the screening. To watch hollywood movies, you will need vpn. If your connection is big enough, can watch in "blu ray" quality. But most movies are hd ones.

The xiaomi built in contents has some HK dramas.. go and look for 沙发管家 apk and install it into the box.. you will have plenty of other streaming apps available for download from it..

yes, turn on unknown sources
have you followed the guide or can you read chinese?
