Can advise what software did you used to root your box ? kingroot ?

Beside installation of Google Play Store, what are the additional benefits of rooting the box as it will dis-allow the firmware update from xiaomi.

Mi Box 2 does not have a SD card expansion slot. I am not sure whether the new firmware allows the box to install new apk through the use of thumbdrive. This will allow the installation of KODI.

1) What does Kodi do?

2) I still don't know how to install apks into the box? How do I do it?

1) Kodi is just a collection of many addon aka apks.. It will grow rapidly in size. More for advanced user.
2) Save apk to usb drive, insert USB drive to box, open folder and install app into box

沙发管家 is first thing on my list to do bah.... Change the interface to english, download some apps to test.

If you planning to try kodi, try out this repo SALTS and specto. HD movies.

go to the android setting page, you can change the language there.

Hi, I tried without rooting but unable to find that option.
Seems like rooting is the only way.
I'm using mibox3 enhanced

Been using it for almost 3 weeks now and really happy with it. Small quirks here and there but coming from my old generic s805 tv box, the difference in speed for loading and exiting of apps is really night and day. Its really worth the price if you are able to purchase a set at or close to the china retail price of 399rm(~$83).

Not sure if it's worth the change considering I'm kinda contented with my yr old Mini Mibox.
