After updating to latest firmware seems like storage greatly decrease. Can't seems to load in much apps. Anyone knows how to increase the storage capacity or can use USB thumb drive as alternative install location for apps?

Another way to install remote on Mibox 2 is by below method

1)【应用--应用商店--管理工具--远程安装】
2)it will shown a IP address to remote access the Mibox 2 via your PC/labtop web browsers on the same net work .
3)from the web browsers .. select the file to install ..

I don't think so.

This is one limitation of mibox2. Small memory and not expandable. mibox2 don't have SDcard slot.

Some version of andriod allows memory card in SDCARD slot to store APK.

May be this decrease in storage is one method from xiaomi to let them sell more mibox3.

The mibox3 has 8GB and also a SDCARD slot.

Other brands has less problems.

I still can't install play store yet though. What I am doing is open up browser from MiniX Metro launcher, download the application APKs and install them on Mibox directly.

a few steps to install playstore:
1. Root the box
2. Copy GoogleServicesFramework, GoogleLoginService, vendor apks to system folders data/app and system/app
3. Change the property of these apk to rw-r--r--
4. reboot

I use the default remote control most of the time.
Having said that, some apk works better with a mouse.

So on the rare occasion that I need it, I connect my normal laptop wireless mouse to the xiaomi box. This is by connecting the wireless mouse USB dongle to the OTG cable.
Somehow, I couldn't connect direct to the XiaoMi box inbuilt Bluetooth.

Since mibox3 have SDCARD slot, but not sure if the OS allows you to install apk in SDCARD or at least use SDCARD for some of the apps storage.
