3GB + 32GB?

ok for me
survive with my G2 2GB 32GB for 2yrs+
have to look at the price

To most peple. 32G is more then enough. However for Mi5. 32G version also means slower sd820 cpu clock speed. Guess many did not notice this. Is stated in the specification at their China website.

So question is why would you pay 600+ for a de-rated handphone?

likely one will not quite feel it for the difference in clock speed.
did not check the china site, if the difference is as below, not a problem

Dual-core 1.8 GHz Kryo & dual-core 1.6 GHz Kryo - Standard edition
Dual-core 2.15 GHz Kryo & dual-core 1.6 GHz Kryo - other editions

but if the price is not "nice" ... that's a minus
will not pay extra for higher clock

U dont need the higher clock speed. With the base model at 1.8Ghz, its already very fast and responsive. Unless u use apps which are very CPU intensive, it is unlikely u'll even notice much of a difference between the 2 versions in everyday usage.

I guess it all finally voice down to price. Why would you pay $600 plus for a de-rated cpu when it can perform faster?

Its not about $600 plus or $500 or even $400, its about getting a phone that meets your needs. I need a dual SIM phone that can work with at least 3G voice networks on the second SIM. This is THE ONLY phone that can do so for now.

Even discarding the dual SIM functionality aside... the specs of this phone isnt shabby, even with the lower clocked frequency. True phone usage experience isnt just based on academic numbers. So what if its clocked at a lower frequency? Does it make your everyday usage experience any lesser? Its the entire package that u have to look at and IMO, this phone is worth its price.

Yesterday I went to the SLS xiaomi store and they are selling Xiaomi mi5 - In house warranty 1 year.

i test the speaker and when i adjust to very loud the speaker like cannot handle louder sound. It's worse than my iPhone 6 Plus speaker.

Does anyone face such issue?

Have you tested 4G+3G worked in Singapore?

for majority of the dual sim phones out there, we hope it is either a firmware or software restriction.

I doubt so. Its likely a hardware limitation. I think u need the latest processors like the Snapdragon 820 with the updated LTE modem.

Accorfing to Xiaomi webdite. Is nothing to do with the processor.

Yes, this is what Xiaomi claims to be their 3.0 technique. They did not mention specifically its simply software. Neither did they say this can be implemented across any processor family. U dont see 3G secondary voice support in all the rest of the Xiaomi phones, not even the latest Note 3. We also dont see this being implemented by other manufacturer. If its simply just a s/w implementation, i dont see why other makers cant implement it for existing and older dual SIM models.

Take a look at 1:21 of the video review of the Indian Mi5.

mi5.png

Notice IND airtel 4G on the 1st sim, and Airtel on the 2nd sim?

Unless the reviewer deliberately disabled 3G on the 2nd sim, it seems the international variant doesn't allow concurrent 4G/3G-voice ...

Could be that the 2nd sim is 2G by default, and user needs to enable 3G on 2nd sim ?
