Those who own or previous own the Mi5, how's the battery life and SOT? There seem to be inconsistent feedback on this from the various reviews I've seen, some say battery life is great yet some say it's just average. Don't know who to believe :o

Don't believe anyone regarding batt life. Can only take with a pinch of salt since everyone got diff usage pattern. E.g. ppl like me don't care much about SOT since I got other ways to use my phones/devices than to stare at the screen & I charge whenever I can than to wait at "end of day", but for many, SOT is absolute. Try to guage based on ur usage pattern or just try it urself, can always sell it off if not satisfied.

That's true. I'm currently torn between the Mi5 and S7 Edge...

Now MiUI supports moving to SD? It used to be disabled.
App2SD only available after root for MIUI.
wait until flower also dropped :s22:
this estimate based on past experience?
anyway thanks for sharing ... at least neck not so long :s13:
I'm comparing with how long Mi Note take to reach Singapore last year haha, hopefully this time round for Mi 5 it will be faster.
the worry part is more about end up with cheaper version say sekali got a Mi5i (nneh version) :(
Wouldn't lah for now, Mi Singapore say they're now focusing on Redmi Note 3 and Mi 5 so don't need to worry so much for now.

Sent from my Rice phone using GAGT

Battery life certainly depends on usage pattern but part of the reason why some may find the Mi5 to have a shorter than expected battery life is due to configuration of the handset. Once properly configured, the battery life is quite decent. It certainly runs circles around the Samsung S5 Duos that i used to own.

Few things to take note of:

1) Mi Account Sync. U need to set this up properly, else once activated, it will sync almost everything to Mi Cloud, including photos and videos. When that happens, its a huge battery drain as the handset is constantly uploading (even in the background), especially during the initial phase where u have just transferred tons of photos and videos into your phone. U will also find that the phone is constantly warm, even when u are not using it!

2) Under Power Saving modes, using the Std mode offers the best compromise between battery consumption and background access to location services and network access. However, its often too restrictive, resulting in late/missed Whatsapp notifications, email notifications, etc. As such, some may select the Off profile to avoid such a hassle. A better alternative is to keep the Std mode profile but add whatever apps that requires background access to the unrestricted access apps list instead. This way, only apps that u need to have unrestricted access gets it, while the rest will not stop the phone from going into standby mode to conserve power.

3) Make use of scheduled on/off or battery profiles to tailor to your usage requirements. If u do not require network access past midnight, u can simply create a sleep profile that turns off all WIFI and data network connections for the phone and switch between a sleep and day profile based on a preset time schedule.

Hi Guys, For those of you who have a Mi5, can you help me to check if it support Android Auto? You can try to download the app from the Playstore here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.projection.gearhead&hl=en

Although google says Android Auto is supported in Lolipop and above, I realize that this is not the case for All phones with V5.0.2 and above. So I would like to confirm if Mi5 support AA...

Thks in advance

I'm not aware that a Global ROM is available for the Mi5. Your phone came with 7.2.94.99 preinstalled??? Some online retailers may change the ROM to support multiple languages. However, u will not be able to receive updates via OTA.

I'm now running 7.2.8, updated via OTA. This is currently the latest official ROM for the China market. Only Eng and Chi languages are supported.
