last resort is to factory reset and install gapps or you can install global rom which already come with gapps
i had the same problem on my mi4c so i never use china rom ever again..... very troublesome

Haiz... wasted alot of time looking for solutions.

Last resort..go back to the guy who brought in the phone.. see what he can do..

I thought i'm quite tech savvy.. but this one really makes me bang walls.:mad:

Uninstall Google services and use the Google installer found on MI store to reinstall again

Gotten worst. Wifi cannot be detected.
Wanted to do a clean factory reset but unable to do so.. not even a hard reset..
what the hell is going on man?!?!?!
happening lah. i didn't even do anything to the phone.
Updater auto download and auto reboot to the newChina rom Miui 8 android 7.
Now only thing that works is what i have downloaded. Playstore, wifi, all gone.

Anyone has encounter similar issues?

Are you on china rom? You need to update the Google services to support nougat before any Google stuff will work.
Why cannot reset? BTW, you need Internet (WiFi or data) connection becos they need to disable find phone or whatever MI account stuff before you reset.

The method I'd use is to download the 5 important apk (on apkmirror but u need the right version for v7) and install it starting from the framework->Google services->account manager->calendar then contact sync
Anyway, I think the thread already done it for you so u just follow it step by step
