Matt Black would be a killer siol! :s8:
Yeah, just imagine the iPhone 7 in matte black got enlarged to the size of Mi Max, will look stunning with its full black design!

Hi Dragonguy

Yes, please as I'm getting annoyed by my MiMax Hydrogen.

I'm using MIUI 8 Global Beta ROM 7.4.13, still got two problems despite the latest update last Friday (only settling the Google Playstore's waiting for wifi problem):

1. WhatsApp not automatically restart in the background (despite allow it
by setting it correctly), thus the message and call only pops up when I tap the WhatsApp icon which is very annoying.

2. Display brightness : keeps on automatically auto adjust despite not allowed the auto adjust.

I guess I have to migrate to EU ROM 8.2.2.0

Ok, I will try it get it up done by tomorrow night ba. Now mind tired le from course and some bo liaoz matters just now.

At the mean time try read up the xda twrp flashing and doom slayers 2nd part of the twrp setting posted earlier on. Mine guide will be fully based on them and credited to them (mixed and match though).

<< Add on about eu rom for both the 32 and 64/128 >>

Folks who wanna flash to eu rom. I would suggest that you just flash the 8.2.2.0 is good enough! Don't flash the latest one which is 8.2.3.0 as I find that 8.2.2.0 is so much smoother and snappier than 8.2.3.0. :s22:

Anyway, there isn't any visible improvement and there isn't any critical bug fix on 8.2.3.0 compared to 8.2.2.0. :)

Just my humble advice! :)

I think I do it now better as I have a tendency of cannot fall asleep when something is undone. :s13::s22:

Below is the guide based on Doom Slayer (xiaomi.eu) & hstende (xda). Besides crediting the 2 of them, also credits to some of the bros here for contributing (who know who you are).

The guide will be totally based on EDL mode and you will find it is striking similarity to my EDL flashing guide :s13::s22:. Cheers.

============================
*NOTE TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK (AS USUAL :s22:)

----------------
!!!! README !!!!
- 32GB is call hydrogen sets, 64/128GB is called helium sets.

- Official rom for 32GB set is hydrogen and 64/128GB sets is helium.

- For xiaomi.eu roms, 32GB rom have only "MIMAX" in the filename and 64/128GB roms is "MIMAXPro" in the file name.

- ANY FLASHING OF WRONG SET ROM WILL RESULT IN HARDBRICK.
----------------

1. Download any fastboot rom for your set from official miui site here. if you have existing fastboot rom for your set then use it. (note: file name will end with *.tgz)

2. Download your desire xiaomi.eu stable rom or beta rom from this xiaomi.eu forums.

3. Download respective twrp for hydrogen and helium sets.

4. Download miflash beta if you haven't yet here.

5. Download Qualcomm Drivers here if you first time flashing.

6. Unzip the official fastboot rom to root of "C:\", e.g. "C:\fastboot_rom_folder_name".

7. Rename the twrp "*.img" to "recovery.img". Go to the unzip official fastboot rom folder and go into the "images" folder. Copy and paste the rename twrp "recovery.img" in that folder and replace the current same file with it.

8. Install the Miflash beta if you have not. It will be be install as "XiaoMiFlash". After run it as administrator. Click on select and point it to the root folder of the unzipped modified fastboot rom. e.g. C:\fastboot_rom_folder_name. After that on the bottom right, check on "clean all" options.

9. Turn off your phone. Press and hold vol+, vol- and power button to get to EDL mode. Note that the screen will not show anything, you will know it has power on as it will have vibration upon bootup.

10. Connect phone to PC, wait for it to detect and install the necessary drivers. Open up you device manager, you should see under "Ports (COM/LPT)" something like "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM4)", note that your COM number may vary.

11. Refresh on XiaoMiFlash and your phone should show up, e.g. COM4.

12. Click on flash and wait for it to complete.

13. After success, unplug and reboot your phone by holding on to the vol+ and power button (maybe 10 sec or longer)

14. The phone will reboot showing mi logo upon that release the power button while holding on to vol+, if too long you can release the vol+. Now it should boot to twrp.

PAY A BIT MORE ATTENTION HERE.
15. TWRP can ask for password, press cancel and allow modifications by moving slider.

16. Format data.

17. Enable MTP and put xiaomi.eu rom zip in your phone.

18. Go to mounts and unmount system ** (if it's not unmount)

19. Flash your rom.

20. Reboot the phone. Take note that first boot may take like 15-20 minutes, since xiaomi.eu rom is deodexed.

*Note if you need root, just download the latest SuperSU and put in at steps 17 and flash if after you flash your rom.

This is one of the best battery life I gotten for Mi Max 32GB. But can't remember which firmware was it.

Sometimes, I really wonder whether is it necessary to update the firmware.

Only know that this was around 23 Jan 2017.

for my usage, i found dev rom 7.3.30 & 4.6 the battery life improved. and i din switch to 2G to conserve battery as most places had switched off.
about 2 days usage with ~20% left. and screen-on time of 6~7hrs.

i m on eu rom 7.4.13 now. will monitor the battery life.

nope i was using 8.2.3 for some time already and then the glitch suddenly happen.

From my observation, 8.2.3 isn't a good rom by any means, be it Global, China or China based eu rom.

8.2.2 was rock solid and snappy. That's why I rolled back to eu 8.2.2 from eu 8.2.3 (China based).

Let's hope the new 8.2.4 is a real good one. :)

BTW, Mi Max Prime hasn't gotten the Global 8.2.4 yet. It's still stuck at 8.2.1. Damn slow for global users. :(

I see. That's strange indeed. Any 3rd party launcher installed?

Anyway, there is new 8.2.4.0 now.

After downloading the recovery package update fail. I select the zip file, system run "get info" then fail with the following message
Cannot verify update
From is in beta testing, make sure you signed in with a beta authorized xiaomi account
