Xiaomi Mi Max - Part 2

Hey guys, my brother's phone died after updating to the latest software ( i believe it was not authentic global rom but fake global rom.)

After updating, his phone is unable to boot up and i do not what to do.


Please do assist me, thank you.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

switch on your PC.

1. download 8.19 global fastboot ROM (for your own variant) and extract it to C drive.

2. download miflash.exe and install, open the program.

3. on the phone, hold volume- and power buttons together(fastboot mode)and connect it to the PC.

4. over at miflash, select the ROM you have extracted, and click refresh.

5. then click flash and wait.

6. after flashing, just power on the phone and be patient for a few minutes for the phone to boot up.

Me, no problem or sorts with miui since August leh...

but i think you have been commenting on the volume issues since august?

Definitely a software issue . Try a different Rom and see the difference.

The problem is i cant find anyway to boot his mobile, fastboot or edl. I suspect the fake global rom fry his motherboard.
There is no display during charging, unable to boot up( normal or power button + volume button)

Meaning vol +- with power button to go edl mode cannot be detected by your comp?

Not super cheap but bought at $334.

Just finished flashing LineageOS 7.1.1, no more Xiaomi bloatware.

The disadvantage is that no Xposed for Nougat, OG youtube can't access account without installing an older version + 3 apps with way too much permissions.

It doesnt go in edl mode, or even boot up. There is no screen display at all( no vibration).

Erm. For edl mode there will not be any display/indication shown. Maybe just a short vibrate.

I know you mentioned that the phone did not vibrate but did you try to plug in to mi flash to see if it is being detected?

I just tried it. But it seem the computer is unable to properly detect the device.
On device manager, it shows unknown usb device ( device descriptor request failed.)
On the device status, it states "windows has stopped this device because it has reported problem. (code 43)


Previously i used this computer to flash other mi max so i doubt it is the driver problem.

Try holding vol + & vol - & power button longer, maybe 30 sec? Once if you feel it vibrate, release then flash using my guide at part 1 (pls search for it), it's pretty much info you need. I kena once before when i flash from unofficial to official.

If the set doesn't not vibrate after holding the method i mentioned. Then open up the set and remove the battery and reconnect back (someone did it before i dunno who, forget liaoz so long already). Then same flash using my guide. Some call it black screen fastboot (like kelvinti does), but i rather call it edl mode.

If all above no work, good luck, you have hard brick the set.

That's bad enough. I believe the infra red also not working?
