Update : I found the reason.. it's one of the themes in the EU theme shop.. after applying it, it changed the default "whatsapp" icon name to "WA" and that didn't play out well. Thanks...

I have enough of running and experiencing MIUI 9 Beta already...

I'm back to eu rom stable 8.5.2.0 for now (Android 7).

I'm waiting patiently for MIUI 9 Stable rom to be rolled out.

I've finally upgraded from 7.5.25 to 7.10.19 Global Beta.

There's something wrong with the auto-brightness feature. When I reboot the phone in a dark room, the auto-brightness starts the brightness setting like 5%? Making it very dark.

Yes. All Android 7 based MIUI rom have this auto brightness issue be it Stable or Beta.

Besides, the manual brightness doesn't stick after disabled auto brightness.

The only solution is to root to edit the auto brightness string from "true" to "false" in the Helium.xml or hydrogen.xml depending on your model.

I did that and it works so well.

Auto brightness behaves correctly. No super dim or over bright bugs.

Manual Brightness sticks permanently.

I know, the bug is irritating but hor Android 7 based MIUI is so so so much speedier and smoother then Android 6 based MIUI.

Worth the trade off.

Googled and found from MIUI forums that it has been an issue since June 2016. Need to change back to default theme. Wtf...

On Global Beta is like that one, will have some bugs here and there. But don't know why, some bugs takes a long time to get rectified.
