Thanks!

Ok managed to flash it to miui 8 global beta now.

For those who want to know, these are the steps i do.

There are two types of roms, one is recovery type (comes in .zip file) the other one is fastboot type (comes in .tgz file). I find that the fastboot type installation is the fastest and easiest. So i will be using that method.

In short just download the fastboot rom and miflash beta then just follow the steps in this guide shared by previous bros in the thread: http://en.miui.com/thread-305827-1-1.html

Then you should be good to go, quite easy to flash actually compared to the other phones i tried flashing last time.

Can download roms from here,

Version: 6.8.4 (MIUI8) (Mi Max 32GB):

http://bigota.d.miui.com/6.8.4/miui_MIMAXGlobal_6.8.4_c9bf60aae9_6.0.zip (Recovery type rom)

http://en.miui.com/a-234.html <- Scroll down the page and find a link called "Xiaomi Mi Max 32GB Latest Global Developer Version Fastboot File Download" then click it to download. (Fastboot type rom)

Wah ... my wife's Note 4 died suddenly just now while updating Facebook app.

The Note 4 was updating Facebook app and it became really slow. So she rebooted her phone and the phone cannot boot up. I tried all the methods which I can find on internet but NONE worked.

Guess when my Mi Max comes, I may just have to use the Mi Max and pass her my Redmi Note 3 liao.

It's a sign. Luckily you bought the mi max...

Might be a case that your ota update got downloaded successfully but did not install correctly for whatever reason, thus the bootloop. I have also been having some minor niggling issues with the battery indicator and wifi auto on for no apparent reason. Too lazy to do a full reflash and re-setup so i just try my best to ignore.

Update:
I itchy finger and wanted to find out if it was the OTA update V7.5.4.1 MBCMIDE Stable....and sure it was. Updated, then stuck at bootloop showing Mi and Android logo with it trying to reboot (as it vibrates and flashes) several times without launching.

Re-flash the whole thing and did the setup again (getting the hang of it now..)

Switched off the auto-updated at night and the phone is working as per normal this morning.

No OTA updates for me! :D

I don't recall what my smartcell set (ordered 30 Jul) came with, but after the latest OTA, it is now 7.5.7.0 (MBCMIDE):)
Then we have to manual flash it to global miui 8 right if we wanna upgrade? Bo OTA for that?

Edit: so bros here flash their rom is because they worry the pre installed rom is fake with malware and not official?

Sent from Samsung SM-G935F using GAGT
