I wonder anywhere selling Indian export set which is pre loaded with global rom.

That, makes thing much more easier for noobies.

I also in that dilemma.

But because I don't take public transport much, so I am sticking to Redmi Note 3 for now. If not, I'll sure get the Mi Max and everyday use it on MRT with the huge screen.

Another 2 selling point of Mi Max are :

1. Min 4,750mAh battery
2. Android 6.0.1

If local set cost >$50 from the export set, then people may just get export set liao.

If the local mi5 is a benchmark for price inflation, I bet the 32gb/3gb local version will be around 399

Was tempted to buy.. it's now out of stock.. it's a good buy if it's not modified..hesitate because do not know if they post wrongly for the pricing and the location of the shop simder is at lucky Plaza..haha

You need to unlock the bootloader first.

Never mind, just upgraded to official stable china rom using these steps.

No need to unlock bootloader (which I presume is to install global rom). I installed stable china rom for now.

Power off device, press power, volume up and down key together to boot into edl mode, download global stable rom and flash with miflashbeta.

Edl method will work regardless of bootloader. Currently rmn3 and mi max still have edl mode but not mi5.
