Haaaaaalllpppp. I entered a code to lock the screen and all seemed well but now the phone keeps rejecting my lock code so I can't unlock it. I Googled and tried to do hard reset by pressing power and volume button but it won't go into the recovery mode - keeps showing me a picture of the phone and a USB cable. Why can't I enter recovery mode? Have not even had the chance to flash the phone 😢

open miflash on your desktop first,

hold +-volume button down together with power button, within a second, (your phone should vibrate) plug in a cable from your PC to your max.

on your max screen, there should be no pic except the max symbol etc with 3 dots below, if I'm not wrong.

Does anyone know how I can use the micro so card slot along with a nano sim? Or must I use the sim card slot 2?

Thank you for the solution, if only it would work for me....I'm using a MacBook and an old one to boot and I've just discovered MiFlash tool only runs on Windows. I guess I've a $280 brick on my hands for now. 😪

4g is supported, but not for volte for now. When calls comes in, it will auto drop to 3g. After end call, it will go back to 4g.

This pattern is based on single sim setted for voice and data. If let's say, ur sim 1 is voice only and sim 2 is data. Sim 1 will stay 2g/3g and sim 2 will stay 4g/3g/2g. However if call comes in for sim 2, it will also auto drops to 3g.

To simplify, whichever simcard on 4g, when calls comes in for that sim, it will auto drop to 3g. This will happen always until sg telco support the volte for mi max. Fyi.

Explained very thoroughly, Thank you!
Meaning local telco hasn't turn-on VoLTE support for mi Max. I didn't know telco must individually grant cellphone models on volte access.
Then I must switch bk to 3G on my Max. Thanks again.

Played with the demo set. Not bad finishing at the price point. Sound is abit soft though. Camera is pretty decent too. Miui 7.xx. worth the price.

Look out for houseofcase in carousell, he managed to recover my brick max mi on the spot within 1 hr even when Xiaomi Singapore service center, and those shops at Sim Lim and Burlington Square said it was a gone case.

Or.

Open up miflash.

Power off your phone.

Connect USB cable to your phone.

Press and Hold both Volume Up and Volume Down and plug the USB cable to the pc end.

You should heard a pee sound with black screen on Mi Max.

Release both the volume keys.

Your phone should now in Fastboot mode.

Start the sequence of using miflash to flash the rom to your phone.
