Hi guys,
I need some help to root to CM11.

initially i have problem using supersu (prompt me su binary not installed), so I flash the rom from this link:
http://en.miui.com/download-229.html (MiPad Global Stable ROM)

after that I tried installing the supersu... this time round i can access the app but there is no app inside the app tab to let me do this step:

8. After the reboot has finished, start the new app SuperSU and check that it works properly by launching an app which requests root permission (like Titanium Backup) and confirm the Superuser request with Grant

I following this instruction which my friend gave me:

---
Root Mipad using update.zip
Files needed
A> update.zip (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2384856/CM11/update.zip)

Steps:
1. Download the file update.zip (according to my experience the download via browser on phone/tablet often is not working properly or results in a corrupt zip file, thus I would advice to download it using your PC)

2. Copy the file update.zip to the root folder of the internal storage ('Computer\MI PAD\Internal storage' in case of a USB connection to a PC, mind that this is NOT the root folder of your SD Card) like shown in the below picture on PC and on your Mi Pad:

3. Boot your Mi Pad into MI-Recovery:

i) Long press the Power button and select & confirm Reboot
ii) Immediately after the white turning circle disappears press the Volume Up button and keep it pressed
iii) Your Mi Pad will boot and show the MI logo, you can now release the power button
iv) The MI-Recovery will be shown, you navigate up and down using the Volume buttons and select with the Power button

4. In the MI-Recovery navigate to 'English' and select the entry

5. Select'Install update.zip to System One' and confirm with YES. The progress bar is increasing during the installation, don't get afraid if it gets shortly stuck at 98%

6. After you got the green 'Update complete!' message select Back

7. Select and confirm 'Reboot', in the next menu select 'Reboot to System One (latest)'

8. After the reboot has finished, start the new app SuperSU and check that it works properly by launching an app which requests root permission (like Titanium Backup) and confirm the Superuser request with Grant

I got the instruction from this thread. (http://en.miui.com/thread-30617-1-1.html)

Next you install the CWM Recovery (Permanent installation of CWM recovery using Updater app)
File needed
A> Update_CWM_recovery_MiPad_6.0.5.0.zip (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2384856/CM11/Update_CWM_recovery_MiPad_6.0.5.0.zip)

Steps:
1. Download the file Update_CWM_recovery_MiPad_6.0.5.0.zip to your PC (because download via browser on phone sometimes is not working properly)

2. Connect your Mi Pad via USB to PC

3. Copy the file Update_CWM_recovery_MiPad_6.0.5.0.zip to the folder 'Computer\MI PAD\Internal storage' (root folder of internal storage)

4. Disconnect your Mi Pad properly from USB ('Safely Remove Hardware...')

5. Launch the Updater app, from the menu choose 'Select update package' and from Internal storage select the file Update_CWM_recovery_MiPad_6.0.5.0.zip

6. Your recovery will now get updated and when finished you need to confirm to reboot

7. For checking after the reboot you can now reboot into CWM recovery by starting the Updater app again and choosing from the menu 'Reboot to Recovery mode'

Enjoy CWM recovery

I got the instruction from this thread. (http://en.miui.com/thread-65770-1-1.html)

Install CM11 into your MIPAD
Files needed
A. tegra_bionic.zip (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2384856/CM11/tegra_bionic.zip)
B. gapps-kk-20140606-signed.zip (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2384856/CM11/gapps-kk-20140606-signed.zip)
C. cm-11-20150430-UNOFFICIAL-mocha.zip (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2384856/CM11/cm-11-20150430-UNOFFICIAL-mocha.zip)

1. Reboot to CWM recovery via updater
By default it will be system 1 change to system 2

2. Managed system > system 2
2.1 Wipe Data/Factory Reset
2.2 Wipe Cache
2.3 Mounts and storage > format system
2.4 Install Cm11.zip
2.5 Install Tegra Bionic
2.6 Install gapps.zip
3. Managed system > system 1
3.1 Wipe Data/Factory Reset
3.2 Wipe Cache
3.3 Mounts and storage > format system
3.4 Install Cm11.zip
3.5 Install Tegra Bionic
3.6 Install gapps.zip
4. Reboot..

I got the instruction from this thread. (http://en.miui.com/thread-106997-1-1.html)

the tabelet is almost 1yr old...just Singapore set comes late.
Common complaint will b the "lag" (swiping, opening apps)
Miui seems to be not optimised for it
There is also weight to consider.

I do find the local 16g kinda small...(common for tablets. Shd b 32G or 64G to host big game data)

As a wifi unit, i do find it ok. (Less than S$300)

Actually the Mipad isn't as bad as what others seem to think.

The only downside I can think of are these few things:
- occasional pauses when exiting apps. (probably due to memory management)
- annoying stuttering during first few seconds of Youtube app video playback, though this problem only appears for the first time you launch Youtube app. Playing from Chrome has no issues.
- MIUI may not be everyone's cup of tea

Other than that, one really good thing I like about the Mipad is that it will run almost any game with great frame rates. Not too bad for a under $300 tablet.

To jeffrey745:
There is no HDMI output for the Mipad.

To Spladox,
Mipad ran all games I downloaded without stuttering. The most demanding game I tried was GTA Vice City (runs very smoothly with MAX detail level) and Modern Combat 4. No problems with these games at all. The Nvidia chipset is really great for games.

Why I felt MiPad better

1. Low cost.. just $299 for good spec.
2. Like the UI. Clean and Simple.
3. Overall Experience better. I had Xiaomi Redmi 1, Redmi Note. iPhone 6..
4. Want to support companies who are creative and provide value for money.

$299 for Miui and the type of cpu is not worth. Can get something with better cpu and good Andriod at this price now a day.

Xiaomi is never a creative company. All you see is copy and no own patented product.

Think if you can still get Samsung tab s offer with bluetooth keyboard at $398. This should be the best buy as keyboard itself is close to $100 in value. Other choice I had in mind is Asus. Quite a numberof ATOM model is priced around $299. Some with 3G.

All will start with copy only. if I am correct Japanese too when they started copy products but they improved the design. Similarly Xiaomi too improved the design.

Once upon a time we do not trust China own designed products for reliability. Xiaomi brought confidence in consumers.

So we can not under estimate. Being an emerging market (China) I feel nothing wrong with them. If a poor country (once upon a time china now no more as a county) want to gain market share, if they want to capture market with innovation it can be challenging.
