60" True 4K TV @ SGD$1.6K with soundbar & subwoofer is not cheap?

No warranty is a fact. My last LG 42" TV spoilt 30days after warranty expires, so got warranty also no use.

"Waiting for price to drop" is a never ending game.

Ignore that biased LG fanboy lar. Go see some of his post comments like "LG 2016 models being released. Wait till nov-dec for price to drop then buy." Like that then i might as well wait till 2018 for the 2016 models to be discontinued than hopefully i can buy at 50% off. Previously in another thread i asked about which model would be a better buy then he just flat out say LG without providing any reasons to support his claims. Brand preference is one thing, but irrational brand biased is another.

Nowadays local warranty for electronic products can be pretty BS. Certain brands play around with fine print and TnCs, and so called 3 years warranty is in actual fact 1+2 where panel is only included in the 1st year. Also, being under manufacturer warranty does not necessarily mean you dont have to pay a single cent for repairs. Which is why outside retailers and their own extended warranty schemes are gaining popularity where the TnCs are laid out clearly without any BS. But for people who have made up their mind to fork out more than $1.5k to bring in a xiaomi tv, warranty or the lack of it is the least of their worries.

I wouldn't say "least of their worries", it is a concern, but as you've mentioned, nowadays manufacturers buy components knowingly contributing to end of life of the product.

e.g. using capacitors on the power supply board that have a average operating life span of 4 years (plus/minus 1 year tolerance) and providing 3 years warranty.

Anyway just ignore the LG salesman, and lets all stick to the thread's topic!

I hope next years models (Mi TV 4) will have more 120hz native refresh panels unlike the 3 and 3s series (mostly 60hz except the 70" (http://www.mi.com/mitv3/55/specs/?type=3)

Yah lah, I also don't want to assume.

I watch the local channels in HD and the picture quality is actually quite good. With my limited experience, I would say that Mi TV 2 picture quality is pretty decent.

After the experience of my last LG TV, I blacklist them liao. I even tried my luck on a $430 Skyworth 42" IPS LED TV. So if both can last >3yrs, I'll kiss goodbye to "branded" TVs liao.

For chinese brands, there are no secrets among one another and everybody knows what everybody else is producing. As such you see alot of trend following among the brands, e.g. xiaomi announced curved tv and then suddenly every other major chinese brand starts releasing curved tvs too. These brands cater mainly to their own domestic market so if the chinese consumers have a demand for technology like 120hz panels or HDR, then we will get to see them being implemented in future models. Hopefully xiaomi releases an oled model in the future. Coocaa has a 55inch 4k oled model selling at rmb$7999(~SGD$1700). http://www.coocaa.com/goods/get_422.html
To us here this is a crazy cheap price. But to chinese consumers who are used to their domestic products being dirt cheap, rmb$7999 can be considered crazy expensive.

Can check out this chinese article for more pictures(can only look and drool:s8:)

Actually there are many other various chinese brands that produce tv with good specs and hardware at cheap prices, but perhaps quality and reliability remains to be seen. For us, we dont look beyond xiaomi because its the most recognizable and quality assured brand.

Yeah actually the top selling brand by far in China (70%ish market share) is LeTV, their Tvs are price slightly higher than Xiaomi and have great specs and quite nice design.

But a big part of the reason is content, so much "unlicensed" content easily available on their TVs

The problem with such Tv is no warranty and no toggle app to catch up local Tv program. What to do if it go up the lorry after 3 mths. For local set as long as the LED screen is not broken or demaged you can claim warranty easily for manufacturer fault like motherboard faulty etc. I claimed warranty for more than 6 times for my Sony Tv. They change powerboard and motherboard.

So how many of your imaginary friends have their tv sets break down after 3 months? Or is this another one of your fictional "facts and figures" that you pull out of your arse?

I have a few other brand too. It is true that Manufacturer can control the life span of your Tv. Watching Tv is quite boring compared to other activities.

Hahaha seriously dude, some of the things you say really do crack me up and make my day. Now i know why you said you claimed sony tv warranty 6 times in short pan of 3 years. I can imagine the "other activities" you do to the tv instead of watching it. And for some1 who says watching tv is boring, it weird why you should own so many different tv sets from lg, samsung and sony like you claim you do.

I am not discouraging people from buying MiTv. The world is so big and there are many things you haven't come across.

My house is quite big and there is Tv in all my bedrooms. The Tv is there just like furniture in case someone in my family want to watch Tv in their bedroom. I also have Tv in my office. My Sony Tv became faulty after 1 mths and i am not alone. Sony change my powerboard and motherboard. I have not switch on my Tv in my master bedroom for more than 1 mth.

At the end of the day it is up to you to decide.

Please refrain from posting in this thread if you do not have anything to offer besides "MiTV has no warranty in Singapore"

Everyone here already knew this from the start. Else we will not be in this thread

The title of the thread is "Xiaomi Tv 2 help"

Please stop derailing the discussions here. I've already reported this to the moderators and I hope you refrain from replying unless you have something useful to add. Thanks!

Guys can we please go back to topic and just ignore non-xiami posts.

BTW on the MiTV3, youtube 4k content works really nicely :()

edit: Some lovely 4k K-pop examples Bambino! DalShabert Stellar SixBomb

So after all the things you said about xiaomi tv being, and i quote you,"not worth, must wait 1 mth for shipment, no warranty at all, breakdown after 1-6 mths", now you back pedal and say you are not discouraging people from buying mitv? Come on lar....make up your mind. Once you make a point, be a man and stick to it. Dont take this the wrong way but i hope you take this the wrong way and get my point. Nobody here values your "advice". Any sensible person with open eyes can see you are a biased LG fanboy, if not an LG promoter. Scoot back to the LG threads where you can promote all you like but please dont go around polluting other threads with your biased comments.
