have both redmi and 1s, 1s battery is abt 20% lesser as this is due to faster processor (but hardware not optimised) and the new 1s firmware seemed that not optimised yet and slightly buggy, but overall speediness and responsiveness is much better than redmi,

also donno why (again attributed to non-optimized firmware) ram usage abt 15-20% higher than redmi

Thanks! What is your average screen on time? I'm using the 1s as my second phone, my note 3 usually gives me less than 4 hours of screen on time daily I was hoping the 1s can be a bit better or at least the same

May I know if you guys have issues with the MTP when transferring files? I just got myself a 32GB micro SD card for my 1s. Connecting to my Win8.1 is fine. I can see contents on the internal memory as well as sd card. However, whenever I create folders or copying lots of files (~10 files of 200mb each) over to the SD card via MTP, it will become unresponsive at times. I do not face such issues with my mum's Redmi 1. Strange.... I have also formatted the sd card and installed the drivers but still no improvements.

Please advise. Thanks!

facing the same problem but I thought it's a MTP problem, you sure your mum's redmi one don't have similar problems when transferring the same amount of files?

No issues Redmi 1. I have not tried transferring huge files on my mum's phone. But I'm sure creating folders and copying multiple files are working perfectly. On the other hand, my 1s always caused the file explorer to hang when creating new folders. Sometimes, transferring multiple will ended up timing out. I think the 1s rom is really CMI.

IIRC no problem with my ex-Redmi

btw I only see sim1 toolkit, there is no sim2 toolkit even though I have sim card in sim2? my ex-Redmi have both sim1 and sim2 toolkit.

Anyone have the issue of WIFI not keeping alive when the phone goes into sleep mode? I have already set the WIFI to be on always. I realized that Whatsapp and other IM messages are not coming through until I wake the phone up.

was wondering how many of you here brought 1S for no particular reason?
haha.
buy solely as a toy?

My BB can't boot and basically required a dual sim phone.
Originally wanted the Huawei Honour 3C but learn that the 4G version is out but no sight of when can get hold of it.
So go for this.. since price is very affordable.
But very disappointed with the battery.
Other than that, still OK, just cant move apps to external SD card and camera cannot set to SD card.

yo bro, as i said they basically slap the old redmi with faster processor and cam but never bother to optimise it hence all the prob hopefully next firmware will solve these issues.

nonetheless you can try to official root it and do the wms and xstorage transfer to your sd card.

root
[updated for 29.0] How to get native Root for Redmi 1S and how to UnRoot again - Redmi 1/1S - MIUI Official Community

using sd card as primary storage
Redmi 1S: Save your Internal Storage using XExtStorage - Redmi 1/1S - MIUI Official Community

also with root and battery dr or such program you can limit which software are able to autostart and also with the battery dr you can able to choose which sofwares to be killed when the phone goes to sleep and also enable the low cpu usage mode .

I've a similar issue of a 3rd party email app not syncing every few hours as configured. Had to manually open the app for it to work.

Thanks. I think is not everyone facing the issue.... But for sure, this is happening to my set. Maybe I try resetting the phone see how.... 1s is really buggy....

I've reset the phone to factory default a few times. Even set the 3rd party app to auto start. Still no good.

It happens on both 3g and WiFi.

The date / time format is another which ponders me.... Regardless which format of date and time I chosen, the lock screen will forever be displaying the 24hour format for time. :s22::s22:

That's bad. Anyway, I did some googling and indeed it points in the direction of a OS bug.. Called the Mi clan as well and they advised to do a recovery - they seemed quite oblivious to the issue or were at least, pretending to be... (I did not proceed with recovery as the person that I had the chat with was not sure of the steps herself. She made a couple of blunders in the process so I left it as it is..)

ah well, if anyone finds a solution to this one-hundred and sixty-nine dollar mystery then pls do share with us..

As for the WiFi, mine is working fine with in-coming messages. Am able to take photos via whatsapp and no keyboard problems.......... as of yet. Keeping fingers crossed. :s8:

Yes it does change to the regular 12hr format but it puts a 0 (zero) when a single hour is concerned. Say its 7PM it will indicate as 07:00. Rightfully, it should be 07:00 (for AM) and 7:00 (for PM without the zero in front) or if maintained as 07:00 then the AM/PM abbreviation should be indicated in which case it is not.

Also, are you able to change the date format from 07/24 to 24/07 on the lock and homescreen? I doubt this will be possible.

The only way I was able to change the time/date format on homescreen was to replace the widget with another from google play but unfortunately, lock screen remains in this strange unchangeable format.

Indeed different themes will offer different date time formats. But that shouldn't be the case because the format is not displayed according to the user preference. And there is no way to prevent themes from overriding the formats.

Somehow, I find that MIUI is goofy. The lack of app drawer is already a big minus as that's what Android stands out against iOS.
