Does anyone has this problem? I'm using Redmi 1S, with SIM cards in it, at first i activated 2 SIM cards, when I disable one of the SIM cards, I can still see the signal bar on top although it can't make call, just showing on the screen and sometimes it blinking, only if I restart the phone then it will be disappeared, is it normal?

You meant the disabled SIM card signal bar remain on top with a x sign? Won't go off? But does it keep blinking? My Sim 1 is Singtel card and Sim 2 is Malaysia prepaid, because I go to JB once a week, that day I went to Jb after I just got this Redmi 1S, so, I disabled the sim 1 and enable sim 2, I can still the sim 1 signal bar on top, with cross but sometimes like normal signal bar, keep changing it blinking, when I back to SG, I disabled sim 2 and enable sim 1, same problem, after I restarted the phone then the disabled SIM card signal disappear, does yours same with mine?

anyone who have both zenfone 5 and 1S, can share more about them?
I am keen to buy zenfone 5 after having IS.
haha.

Actually I play with the zf5 briefly before passing over to my brother.

My 2 cents

General feel is that the zf5 is better overall. Esp the UI, I would take the zf ui anyday over miui.

Design wise zf5 looks more classy/premium

Redmi 1s wins on that it has the removable battery

was wondering how many of you here brought 1S for no particular reason?
haha.
buy solely as a toy?

I got 1s cos my Sammysung screen got a concussion.. no crack but screen became jittery to the point unresponsive. Until it gets repaired this would be my cheap backup phone mainly for calls, emails, whatsapp and basic browsing - nothing fancy.

Anyway, September can upgrade liow.. thinking of getting G3 or whatever better and new is available then.

Toy or no toy, as long as it does the basic job I will try not to complain especially at $169. :o

May I know if you guys have issues with the MTP when transferring files? I just got myself a 32GB micro SD card for my 1s. Connecting to my Win8.1 is fine. I can see contents on the internal memory as well as sd card. However, whenever I create folders or copying lots of files (~10 files of 200mb each) over to the SD card via MTP, it will become unresponsive at times. I do not face such issues with my mum's Redmi 1. Strange.... I have also formatted the sd card and installed the drivers but still no improvements.

Please advise. Thanks!

Hi

I've configured the phone to auto backup photos and videos to Google. Is there any way to prevent the phone from backing up the videos which were manually copied, ie not taken with camera?

No microsd card, purely built in 8gb storage.

Thanks.

hi pple, for rooted 1s
how do I put app into SD card?
keeping seeing this error
Failure
App2SD is not supported by your device. Because your device has a primary external storage which is emulated from the internal storage.
You can link the app in order to moves its files to your SD card.
Who can help?
thanks!

Redmi 1S Rooting Guide...

Tested to work on ROM
- JHCCNBD23.0
- JHCCNBD24.0
- JHCMIBE29.0

Download Stock MI-Recovery 2.0.1 here
[MIUI Device Team] CWM Touch Recovery v6.0.3.6 for Redmi 1S WCDMA - Redmi 1/1S - MIUI Official Community

[updated for 29.0] How to get native Root for Redmi 1S and how to UnRoot again - Redmi 1/1S - MIUI Official Community

Workaround to make external SD as primary storage... pictures and video can then be saved into external SD rather than internal SD.

Redmi 1S: Save your Internal Storage using XExtStorage - Redmi 1/1S - MIUI Official Community

Alternative is to use Folder Mount but free version limit you to pairing 3 folders... more you will have to get paid version.

[APP][ROOT] FolderMount - Link folders from internal SD to external to free space - XDA Forum

The phone seems to consume more power on WiFi (connected to huawei e5331) then on 3g data.

Anyone noticed the same?

have both redmi and 1s, 1s battery is abt 20% lesser as this is due to faster processor (but hardware not optimised) and the new 1s firmware seemed that not optimised yet and slightly buggy, but overall speediness and responsiveness is much better than redmi,

also donno why (again attributed to non-optimized firmware) ram usage abt 15-20% higher than redmi

UPS came around 6:15pm and delivered my 15th July ordered 1S(phone only, $169 order)! :D✌️✌️
It was quite strange actually, I called UPS hotline to enquire when I could get my 1S and they say I can only get it this Thursday and half an hour later, an UPS delivery guy came and got it delivered.. Deja Vu? :s22::s13:

Gonna explore more on it ~ :D

i called ups around 1pm. they told me will either arrive tonight or tmr. :s22:
