The red redmi battery cover on Xiaomi SG website appears to be the matte version, not bright red.

Strange why Xiaomi Malaysia gets more covers

Update to latest JHCMIBH45.0(version 45) MIUI version. Turn off 'Cloud Messaging' after the update.

Thanks!
Does this prevent only Messages (SMS) from data leak?

Or does Turning off "cloud messaging" prevent everything (media, pictures, notes++) from data leak?

Anyone finds that v45 firmware makes the phone laggy compared to v27(out of box)

Because of India customers complaining about heat issue, in V45 firmware the CPU was downclock to 1.0-1.2GHz (so cooler now), and some of them said its running dual core only. You can use cpu-z from playstore to check the cpu speed. That's why now they complain its laggy, especially when playing games.

Unfortunately xiaomi sometimes will re-direct the forum response to another page and now its quite hard to find some of the indian customers complaint/reply. Like I wrote something in Hugo's V45 thread and somehow it was moved to another thread, making his thread 'clean'.

Redmi 1S update Version: JHCMIBH45.0
Yeah, checked with CPU-Z and sometimes only two cores runs at once. However, my 1S does gets heated up very fast when charging, which isn't a problem for the previous MIUI updates. :)

When the phone is heated up, it does have some lag on it. As of my scenario.

hmm, it seems new firmware did a tradeoff to address heat issue.
Faster processor, more heat, low batt life.
Slow it down, less heat, longer batt life. (but may cause heavy usage to hang)

Maybe below solution might solve/optimise user's preference.
(have not tried b4 yet)

"Even i had heating issues after the update. But after many tries i found out the best way.
Install miui6.
Root ur fone
Install greenify.see youtube how to install.
Install no frills cpu control. See utube.
Set the frequency to 1.306 ghz.
Ur fone will be as fast as u wont believe and no heating issues and battery lasts for 1 day with 3g"

If i upgraded to firmware v45,
Is there anyway to "downgrade" the firmware back to OEM v27?

I didnt do any cloud backup of original firmware(v27) prior to the upgrade to v45

You can try searching for the v27 ROM download at the MIUI Forum, they might have a download link to it in some threads at there.

Thanks Mingfreakrsz! 1st timer here in Android based phone.
Feeling alittle lost. lol

Is there such a thing whereby i backup just the v27 OS.
Then i will be able to revert back to v27 anytime?

Only way to backup v27 OS is through micloud only?
If i revert from v45 to v27, will data be lost?
(eg; photos, notes, apps++)
