This is the whole purpose of encryption and security. Ie no one can read. If data is important. You should have backup somewhere else.

Yep. Problem is Xiaomi is not expecting users to hold super impt info in the sd card or to even use the phone as corporate phone[got blackberry]. They just targeting mainstream users, hide unglam(wink wink) photos or videos or basic documents only. Different market i guess but if enough support, the devs will consider to allocate resources to setup encryption for sd card.

Bought the phone for work use and realise it's not compatible with my work's E-mail...

Looking to let it go at $209 which I've bought from Xiaomi SG website, only set it up and used for a few days. Even the layer on plastic on the screen is still intact.

PM me if interested! :D

Something to do with the encryption... My work e-mail requires some encryption set-up and downloading of the in-house apps in order to work, which apparently can't be done on Xiaomi phones...

Problem is not only once they say about Their phone not able to install application on SD is due to security reason!

Yes, some company require smart device to have some kind of program like Mass360 (may be I missed the application name) before you can use the device for business purpose.

i have the same error message, but the phone continues to function normally.
dont remember seeing this error during the few hours after unboxed.
think after flashing to global beta rom and transfered everthing from redmi 2e, this appears quite frequently.

edit:
thanks for the solution.
the play services version remains 8301 after re-update.
and dont forget to re-activate the Android Device Manager.

Some sec com policy requires encrypted phone but XiaoMi no such function, I would encourage you to complain to XiaoMi Loudly if you want it fixed

Do you guys find that the ram usage for this phone is high? I seem to have 1gb of free ram left even after rebooting.

Quite common for Miui. But 2G should be more then enough for day to day.

Ya but I had the redmi note 4g before this, and it had 1.3 to 1.4g of free ram after rebooting. But then that was on miui 6, and this note 2 is on miui 7. Maybe the difference in ram usage is cos of the miui 7?

Ya same here, after clearing recent apps, only 600mb or so ram left too.

Also the batt life goes down faster than my redmi note 4g too.
