Lol. You downloaded your gapps wrongly. If you use opengapps, it is the purest gapps you can get, no hidden stuff. Also, you can set the default of app stores once you got gapps. Sounds like you use google installer from the xiaomi app store. Not recommended.

I just use google search "how to install google play on china redmi note 2 " and get the apk file to do the rest, actually i am not really understand the gapps part. I admit i am not so smart on customisation of android phone. In fact i never think there is a need for me to do ever since i switch from apple. When come of having a smart phone, i play around with the setting of the phone, no roots or flash whatever.

I do search in muiu forum but ended up fruitless unless i root the phone.

One thing I feel MIUI can improve is the lockscreen. One more step needed as compared to Xperia, have to swipe up then input password.

They can probably do something similar to Xperia to make it less cumbersome, eg. top half of screen music player, bottom half input password.

Lol. Don't need root one. Root to be honest quite useless for daily users. I spoon feed you lah.

Download Google Apps from: http://opengapps.org
Select ArmX64, Android 5.0 and Pico (just playstore only) need more google stuff go in playstore to download or see whichever stuff suits you but pico is sufficient. Once you get the zip file downloaded, transfer to your phone internal storage.

Next go and download TWRP. Follow the thread instructions.

After you enter twrp, select install, then look for the zip file you downloaded and install it. Once flashed just reboot can already.

See so simple. To navigate miui forums, click devices, then click redmi note 2, this will bring you to the english international community.:s13:

It said "no duplicates found"

if I edit the contact and merge one by one then it work. but too tedious. I have few hundreds duplicates.

Okay. If its your contact issue then no choice. Last thing you can try is to rebuild index. This will rebuilt the whole contact list. If still cannot sort it out also can't help you. XD

Lol not Note 3 lah though they put the name as Note 3 because they scared people are confused that Note 2 got so many variant.....its Note 2 Pro, meant to rival all the metal phones like Meizu Metal etc. Added features is only the dual flash and fingerprint sensor. The rest of the specs are expected to be the same.

Good information. But is now official as note 3. Ie note 2 now consider as old model.

redmi note 2 global developer rom.

quick check. If my Note 2 Prime is currently on China rom, is it alright to flash to Global rom? I am hoping no data will disappear lor...

Btw, if I had backup phone data on the phone itself, where do I find the backup file? Strangely my phone still having problem backing up to pc suite... :(

New Redmi Note 3 is out, featuring metal unibody, fingerprint sensor, takes 0.3 secs to unlock, 4000mah battery, but weight at 164g. However trade off seems to be no removable battery and sd card slot.

Those who just bought from xiaomi sg may feel abit conned because the same 2gb + 16gb variant is the same price as the metal unibody Redmi Note 3.

In order to flash global dev rom need to wipe entire phone using fastboot method, remember to wipe cache delvik too. Backups can be found in miui/backups. Just make sure backups is backed up to the external storage and not internal storage. Be advise, global rom is updated bi weekly and sometimes even 3 weeks while china dev rom is weekly.

All we need is stable rom and not bugs week after week.

Hi, stable rom are actually not stable. Stable roms are roms derived from dev roms with bugs solved. However, sometimes there still exist bugs in stable which are not easy to catch. Dev rom would thus make sense as every week it will address any bugs that users have highlighted, compared to stable which is carried out in months. It would thus makes more sense to get dev roms.

May be you can check Miui forum. Many has complain they introduce new function vs bug gix in dev rom.

I am on the forum. Majority of the bugs stemmed from custom roms installed by resellers. Secondly, stable rom has also been causing a slew of bugs. As of now Dev Rom is the "most stable rom".
