sg version just updated to 7.0.12.0

I think this is the same as global rom.

I notice there are some posts above about their elderly having problem with the phone's battery running low fast. I have a few elderly at home also using xiaomi phones or other brands' smart phones, and they seem to not really understand the thing about switching off these when not in use. End up i have to "scare" them its like light switch, they will waste electricity if don't click. This way, they learn easier. :p

I am using the outdated china developer rom 5.10.08. I will always make it a habit to switch off data / wifi before i sleep, because i don't want people disturbing my sleep too. So far I always still get 100% battery life every morning when I wake up.

Btw, speaking about rom. I noticed that the global developer rom has 5.11.12 already. Now I am on china developer rom 5.10.08. If i download this global developer rom 5.11.12 from pc and copy paste onto phone directly to update, will it wipe out the phone's data???

Yes. So use the local backup and backup to your sd card. Also, make sure you clear data cache in recovery mode before flashing global rom to prevent poor battery stats.

Battery life still sucks. Hopefully they patch it up soon.

If battery life is bad for you means you didn't clear data cache before flashing to global stable rom. Global stable rom baseband version is different from whichever rom you were on previously. Tested all the different roms and global stable produced the best battery stats.

I didn't flash any global rom. The phone came with the global rom. I checked and verified this with Xiaomi. I even did a hard reset. Mi Singapore PMed me that a fix is on the way this week. I left it on standby at 100% last night around midnight. This morning it was at 69%. Just some message notifications and e-mail. No Facebook installed.

Okay even if you bought it locally, there is no harm erasing the data cache. The reason for erasing data cache is to erase the current battery profiles and rebuilt a new one as it is suspected the old one is causing your battery drain. As for V7.0.12, there is no battery drain at all.

Yeah. Thanks for the advise. I've just done it and will monitor the situation. Do you think it's advisable to flash the rom again?

Not for now as probably battery drain is due to the battery profile. If after a few days still terrible, good to do a fastboot flash but remember to backup your data onto sd card as it wipes the entire internal phone storage.

Do you meant the flashing via fastboot rom? Just head over to miui, there is a flashing guide overthere on how to flash fastboot. With regards to clear data cache, it can be accessed by going to updater, click on more settings then boot to recovery mode. Once in recovery mode just wipe data cache will do. Then reboot the phone.

I find that the batt is dropping even faster in the new v7.0.12, as compared to the previous version. Anybody else experience it too?
