Hello guys I have a question.

On the Xiaomi download page for original ROM for redmi note 4x, there are 2 versions for the China ROM one for 3gb and another for 4gb. But there is only 1 global version. So if I buy an export set can I install the global version on the export set? I want to be sure I won't brick the phone

oh yes... the phone i bought from qoo10... the box actually says redmi note 4... not 4X... but the hardware is SD625 plus the holes on the side is the same as the 4X one...

Yes, the 3GB/32GB version should be identical whether you by RMN4 or RMN4X with the global ROM.

Now I got the entire sequence of events.
1) In Aug 2016, Xiaomi launched RN4 MTK X20 in China, they called it Redmi Note 4
2) In Jan 2017, Xiaomi launched RN4 SD625 in India, with 3 LTE bands, they also called it Redmi Note 4
3) In Feb 2017, Xiaomi launched RN4 SD625 in China, with more LTE bands compared to India launch, this time to avoid confusion with the existing MTK version in China, they called this Redmi Note 4X.
4) In Mar 2017, this RN4X is the international version which was also launched in Singapore and called as Redmi Note 4.

So basically the local set that we get in Singapore is really RN4X. So on a broad level there are only 2 versions, the original MTK version and the SD625 version. For the SD625, 4 or 4X can be used interchangeably depending on whether you are in China or not in China Also the LTE bands on the SD625 can vary depending on whether it is India set or international set. The Russia version also supports same bands as the Singapore version.

Do you have any news link about it? From what I saw, the India version was the first SD version. On the Xiaomi Rom website, there is no China ROM for the SD version of RMN4. Only on the RMN4X page there is a China(3GB+32GB) ROM. This means that when RMN4X was launched, the SD version with all the bands was available.

May be this means there is no 64GB version of SD in China.

The xiaomi China website is super confusing. Why do they have both Redmi Note 4 and Note 4X pages and the 4GB+64GB version is overlapping in both pages and both are X20. I wonder why they kept in both places and what is there difference.
