Based on gsmarena it is released in China too. I checked on Xiaomi China website, it is being sold there but branded as Redmi 5 Plus: https://www.mi.com/redmi5/specs/

The best way to identify of it's an HK or CN set is to see what charger plug is bundled in the phone packaging box.

HK supplies the 3-pin UK plug, while CN supplies the flat 2-pin plug.

Not sure about that that because all the xiaomi phones I bought are china set flashed to global rom. Haven't purchased any global set.

Anyway, amazingone already pointed out we can tell but looking at the charger pin type.

And powerfam3 bought from them also claimed the same too, and it comes with Global ROM too. Verification check at Xiaomi website indicates the set's delivery address is to the Russian Federation.

Same build as note 5, but comes with a slower CPU and GPU lor...

The top flat type . No sure whether they reseal or not . However can't find any finger print on the phone when taking out the phone . Maybe they already clean it before reseal . Box never mention global set or China set . However did mention front camera is 13 m pixel. Back dual camera with 1.4um .

Delivery address is China . So I guess is China set flash with global ROM .

You all make it sound like Rocket science determining what set is it. Very simple, china set will have chinese wording on box 红米 Note 5 and chinese instruction manual You wont find it in global or india sets.

And also back to whether Global or China ROM. The screenshot i showed has the word Global, this is after i flashed it. China rom will just have lots of chinese apps (fancy but not much real use outside china). Easy to differentiate
