I think the 4GB+64GB is the best choice for Redmi Note 5 China.

6GB+64GB is a little way too pricey(can get the superior Mi Note 3 as you said), while the memory of 3GB+32GB could be limited unless using it as a spare phone.
With miui memory management, 4/6gb won't make much difference

There is no qc3 if it's the India set.

aliexpress sellers are selling the chinese set. regardless of what they are listing it for.

The indian sets are even harder to get than chinese sets.

chinese sets can get OTA faster right?
Chinese sets can set to English language too right?
Not too mention Chinese sets got those chinese apps inside i guess

depends if u want the chinese rom. pretty much all resellers will flash global rom for much better usability outside of china unless u state that u dont want it.

If both phones are on global rom, they will get OTA at the same time.

I suppose the china set should be utilizing the global rom from the India set. Since there's no qc3 on it, will it take away the native qc3 support for the china set?

Actually i think i might get the newstar version. 3 32GB is $279, 4 64GB is $360. It is more expensive than aliexpress, $50 more to be exact but the waiting time is only 2 weeks and can self collect and check at the store. Personally i feel this is important because i have experiences where I got scammed with fake xiaomi phones.

aliexpress waiting is not that much longer. on 20 march they stated in a PM of waiting time from 2-3 weeks. which is 1-2 weeks from now.
Its important to only deal with shops of 95%+ positive feedback on aliexpress.

I bought my Redmi Note 5 (China) in Blue color with 6GB/64GB yesterday for $430 :)

Which rear camera did you end up with?
The initial chinese article stated samsung s5k2l7, but it looks like there might be variants using the sony imx 363 as well.

No idea. I can't see it even though I tried using third party apps to check the internals :)
