Now so confusing coz apparently there is the Global version of Redmi Note 5 Pro with the same China version specs (though restricted to 4GB ram max) being sold

It has always been the case for xiaomi phones sold in other countries Same China version flashed with global rom is the global version.

got the phone unlocked and rooted. how do I get Gcam on the phone? reading the net seems like there are several ways, what is the recommended way? thanks.

I cant unlock my phone, everytime i connect my phone to pc. It takes it as my phone is not connected.

Need help unlocking..
I think I have some issues with the drivers

Tried on 2 different pc, both unable to use mi unlocker to detact fastboot.

But under device manager able to see.

If i boot the phone normally, i am able to see my phone as note5, even able to do send files from comp to phone.

Kinda lost at what to do now.

Think u r missing 1 driver, try install the miflash tool n try.

I am installed miflash, and even mi suite, but misuite also cannot detect the phone.):

Tempted to pay those shops to unlock and flash the global rom

I had the same frustrating problem for 5h when i first bought the phone. mi flash installed, no problem with connection when phone is on. Can transfer files. But when it comes to unlocking, it is never detected.

Turned out doesn't work well with my laptop. I connected to desktop and it works fine.

1) Root!
2) Open build.prop, find the camera line, add 'persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1' to the last line. leave one empty space below it , save, reboot.

I had the same issue for few hours yesterday too. Try with another PC. Originally the one that did not work was on Win 8.1 and USB 3.0; the one that work eventually was on Win 10 and USB 2.0

Was trying on a windows 7 and 8.
Shall try on a win 10 later..

I think most important is the miflash can detect the phone in fast boot mode.

Think banking app won't work w root unless u install magisk
