Redmi AX3000 is the lower cost version of Xiaomi AX3000 with external antenna, it has only China version, so not really worth buying compared to the local global version.

The older Redmi AX6 is no longer manufactured and it has much fast CPU. Even if you can get it the cost markup is pretty significant so not really worth buyng now.

They are in a different league.

Xiaomi AX3600: much faster CPU, better wifi coverage, best value at its listed RMB499 price, unfortunately no longer manufacturered, so the price is very high even if you can get it.

Xiaomi AX6000: better wifi performance and coverage, no global version, price in SG online stores has relatively high markup from the RMB599 listed price

Xiaomi AX3000: lower performance but also lower cost, global version with local warranty, very good buy for the price as of now
Thanks Xiaofan, this is a good summary. I guess AX3000 is good for a small size flat (2-3 room hdb).

Xiaomi AX3000 is also a very good mesh solution if you have LAN ports in the rooms. 2 units of Xiaomi AX3000 will be good for many households, and it is one of the lowest cost AX3000 grade mesh solution out there with local warnanty.

I am currently using AX3600 with China rom. I am thinking of getting another AX3000 to mesh up for improved wireless coverage.

Wondering if the global rom for AX3000 would work fine with china rom AX3600?

No idea here for your question, hopefully others can jump in to answer.

But there is a simple solution, just flash your AX3600 with Global ROM and there will be no issues.

i think i will hunt for a AX3000 china set instead. i prefer the higher throughput on my AX3600 since I am on M1, and does not require vlan tagging.

For China set of Xiaomi AX3600, flashing to global Firmware will still keep the high TX power so you are not losing any thing.

That being said, yes you can get China set of Xiaomi AX3000 or Redmi AX3000 or Redmi AX6S.

I will actually recommend to wait a bit and get Redmi AX5400 non gaming edition which is just released at about RMB399.

As a comparison, local version available from Shopee "Xiaomi Official" shop, with local warranty.

Xiaomi AX9000 global version -- S$499 (rather expensive)
Xiaomi AX3200 global version -- S$89 (good price, worth buying)
Xiaomi AX3000 global version -- one for S$89.9 and dual pack at S$169 (good price, worth buying)

Very much the same wireless performance based on various reviews.

To me I will go with Redmi AX5400 gaming edition as it looks much nicer. And the 2.5G LAN port is without limit, unlike Xiaomi AX6000.

Just one review for reference.

Comparison of the Redmi AX5400 Gaming Edition vs Redmi AX5400 normal edition, they are basically two different routers in different tier.

Major differences:
1) different outlook
2) different price point (RMB599 vs RMB399)
3) no 2.5G port, no dual WAN, no LAN Link Aggregation
4) lower grade 5GHz FEM (6pcs)
5) Same 1Gbps limitation ((2.5G LAN to other LANs total bandwidth is limited to 1Gbps) as the Xiaomi AX6000. Redmi AX5400 gaming edition does not have the limitation

Both are good buy fot the price though at its respective price point. Both have the same CPU, same 512MB RAM and the same wireless spec (and both support 4096 QAM).

Tear-down of the normal edition and gaming edition.

Just to check: can I form a mesh between AX9000 Global and AX3600 China ROM?
After much searching, I found an article that mentioned that it won't work if the routers are connected to different location zones. So what @xiaofan suggested to flash the AX3600 to global rom is correct. Just remember to reset your child node when you create the mesh.

For myself, I decided to grab another Redmi AX6S CN version to mesh with my AX3600 CN set.

Hi Xiaofan, thanks for your sharing, very informative for me. I think I will go for Redmi AX5400 Gaming Edition for the size and look. Can I check with you whether this model spec is within SG allowed spec? I read in another thread that you have to adjust your Asus AX-82U to make it comply with SG allowed spec. I am not so technical, just an ordinary user. Thanks!

My current router is Asus AC68 and Asus said that is being hacked, so looking for replacement.

RT-AC68U is still supported by Asus. So you just need to update to the latest FW and disable remote management.

As for Xiaomi router China version, unfortunately I do not have the answer for the TX power limit. I tend to believe there are region settings as well but I cannot confirm. Hopefully others can chime in to answer (eg: Xiaomi AX6000 users).

By right China region has lower TX power as the regulations there is more stringent. So it is reported that quite some people there choose to change region to US or Australia (eg: Asus router China version) to have better coverage. But apparently there are exceptions like Xiaomi AX3600 China version. So I am not so sure about Redmi AX5400 gaming version or Xiaomi AX6000.

Local version of Xiaomi AX9000, AX3200 and AX3000 will sure comply.
