In China market, Xiaomi AX6000 faces strong competition from TP-Link.

TP-Link XDR-5480 is an interesting product, it has very good wifi hardware and wifi performance. It has also proper 2.5G port, unlike Xiaomi AX6000 has a not so good 2.5G port implementation. But then the TP-Link has only 256MB RAM and 16MB flash. So it is probably more suitable as an AP.

This year the China router review website recommends a lot of TP-Link wireless routers in the mid to lower end because of high price performance ratio. But Xiaomi AX6000 is still good if you do not care much about the 2.5G port performance issue.

On the high end, Xiaomi AX9000 and Asus RT-AX86U are recommended.

Quick question on setting up AX6000 as AP.

My current setup is M1 ONT > Edgerouter > AX6000.

Seems like my edgerouter is on 192.168.1.1 while AX6000 is on 192.168.31.1 - wireless internet works fine.

After turning off DHCP on my AX6000, my wireless internet is down. What am I missing here?

Feel like I need to manually set a static IP on the AX6000 before turning off DHCP.

Easier is to factory reset the AX6000 and then set up the Internet as AP mode aka "wired bridge mode" (有线中继模式).

Does anyone know if I can actually setup additional SSID for the router? Aside from the guest mode in App, and seemingly the guest mode is only 2.4ghz

Thanks xiaofan, did just that and was able to setup as AP mode via the Mijia Home App. Always thought it should have been wireless AP, thanks for clearing the air!

Good news for Xiaomi AX6000 owners -- you can enable SSH with the same method as XIaomi AX9000.

Redmi AX5400 Gaming Edition: this is a good replacement for Xiaomi AX6000 as it fixes the 2.5G Lan port issue and it looks nicer as well. Take note it has only China version, same as Xiaomi AX6000. Both are priced at RMB599.

So far there is no SSH hack for Xiaomi AX3000 and Redmi AX3000. Redmi AX5400 Gaming and Redmi AX5400 are too new so there is no SSH hack either.

Other than that, there are SSH hack for most of the Xiaomi AX routers, like Xiaomi AX9000, AX6000, AX3600 and AX18000, Redmi AX6, Redmi AX6S and Redmi AX5.

Xiaomi AX3600: much faster CPU, better wifi coverage, best value at its listed RMB499 price, unfortunately no longer manufacturered, so the price is very high even if you can get it.

Xiaomi AX6000: better wifi performance and coverage, no global version, price in SG online stores has relatively high markup from the RMB599 listed price

Xiaomi AX3000: lower performance but also lower cost, global version with local warranty, very good buy for the price as of now
