Yes you have to ask the seller about whether it is global version or not. I seldom use Lazada/Shopee/Qoo10 so I do not know. Xiaomi AX9000 Global version should work but you need to confirm with Xiaomi.

I will recommend RT-AX86U and not Xiaomi AX9000 if the price is higher or even similar. Reason is that Xiaomi AX9000 global version is too new. We are not so sure about the performance versus China version.

Xiaomi AX3600 Global version is a known product, we know it supports SingTel TV but with lower TX power compared to China version.

If not using SingTel ONT, then Xiaomi AX6000 is not a bad buy. But I tend to think Xiaomi AX3600 is a better buy. It has a better CPU and 4*4 AC/AX 80MHz support / 2*2 AX 160 MHz is actually nice with the current AC/AX devices.

Right now, due to chip shortage, Xiaomi China basically stopped the selling of Xiaomi AX1800, Xiaomi AX3600 (limited stock) and Redmi AX5 and Redmi AX6. They are selling models with better margin now.

Main Xiaomi AX routers models selling now:
Redmi AX3000: RMB249-269
Xiaomi AX3000: RMB349
Xiaomi AX3600: RMB499 (best buy)
Xiaomi AX6000: RMB599 (best buy)
Xiaomi AX9000: RMB1299

Ordered 1 x ax3600 and 1x ax6000 from lazada during 9/9.. intending to use 3600x as main router.. but now the seller says no stock.. will send me ax6000 instead.. my existing main router is xiaomi R2d.. not sure if i want to just use that for routing (cos it comes with hard disk) and use 2x ax6000 for ap/mesh only..

Xiaomi R2D has a pretty okay CPU which is Broadcom BCM4709C (dual core Arm Cortex A9 at 1GHz), but the problem is that the OpenWRT and Linux kernel version are very old. So the security is of concern, especially if you use the NAS function with the internal HDD. I would not recommend you to run it as the main router.

You can run it as an NAS and hide it behind another router (firewall) and do not expose the NAS to the internet.

Newbie here, may i know why SingTel ONT cannot work with Xiaomi AX6000?

Was planning to get AX6000 to resolve my wifi issues:
issue 1: I have bad wifi connection for the second floor
issue 2: sometimes the wifi will become very slow/drop or devices cannot connect to the wifi. I suspect that this may be due to too many devices connecting to the wifi or the router itself sucks.

I am hoping to resolve :
issue 1 : by getting a mesh node with ethernet backhaul (xiaomi AX1800 or Hauwei AX3 , i am not sure if Huawei can mesh with xiaomi)
issue 2 : by upgrading to a wiki 6 router(Xiaomi ax6000).

currently
SingTel ONT -- Asus RT-AC88U in router mode -- 1) SingTel TV box 2) PC with wifi 5 adapter 3) TV by cable

plan to upgrade to :
SingTel ONT -- AX6000 in router mode -- 1) SingTel TV box by cable 3) TV by cable
SingTel ONT -- AX6000 in router mode -- Mesh Xiaomi AX1800 wired backhaul -- 2) PC with wifi 5 adapter

I am hesitant to use my old router (Asus RT-AC88U i) and AX6000 as a AP , as i am afraid that the wifi 6 will be limited by the old router

Appreciate you advice on what would be the best setup,
Thank you.

If you have 2 level, get a long network cable (maybe 20m), then try and put the router at the stairs well in between level 1 & 2.

I am using Asus RT-AC88U also now. I stay level 4 and I am able to get my Wifi signal even when I am at the void deck.

This may solve your "Issue 1".

Do try and feedback here.

As for "Issue 2", after using the Asus RT-AC88U, I find that after about maybe few days, the 5G Wifi speed will drop, for no reason. Or rather for reason that we don't know.

Tested on my Redmi Note 10 Pro :
Right after reboot - 250Mbps (5m from router direct)
After few days - <1Mbps (same spot)

All you need to do is to reboot the router and you will get back the fast 5Ghz Wifi speed liao. Moving forward, you may schedule the router to reboot maybe at 5am daily via the app.

You should be able to run a proper router without reboot 24/7 for long time. Other than power trip or FW update, I run my RT-AX82U continuously without reboot.

Like that the RT-AC88U got problem and better change to another one.

Yah. I know. Monitoring. But now this guy also feedback similar problem.

If a reboot can fix something, usually it is software/firmware.

If it is a hardware issue, reboot won't change anything. Correct?

Yes it is more likely software/firmware issues (eg: memory leak). But it could also be hardware related issue like thermal or marginal memory chips (or even the memory inside the CPU). For example, if the memory chip has some defects but you may get away if that region is not used initially. But then you may eventually hit the bad memory region. And memory leak may accelerate that situation.

Seriously, if really so suay can get hardware like this also bo bian. Anyway, this Asus RT-AC88U only cost me $80. I bought to just try try because it has 8 LAN port. But I currently only use 3 of them.

May eventually get the AX3600 (or maybe AX6000). IIRC the scheduler (Similar to Asus "Family") for the Mi Router is very good. I was using the Mi Router 2 1TB before, I remember it was quite good.

I tried to ask for feedback on how good the "Family" control of the AX3600/6000 here but seems like none using this function.

What I can say is that the "Family" function of the Asus router is totally crap.

Asus RT-AC88U is a problematic router for quite some people and probably the most problematic Asus router in this forum (followed by RT-AC87U). But at S$80 probably you do not want to complain. Later routers like RT-AC86U is much better.

Comparing Xiaomi AX3600 vs AX6000, I tend to thing Xiaomi AX3600 is a better router (due to faster CPU and the availability of global FW and SSH access) whereas AX6000 is a better AP.

However, the availability of Xiaomi AX3600 may become an issue now as Xiaomi moves to sell product with better margin like Xiaomi AX6000 and AX9000 (after the price increase from RMB999 to RMB1299) or the Redmi AX3000 and Xiaomi AX3000.

Yah. Maybe that's why need the reboot.

Now AX3600 - $125 (New), $90 (Used). AX6000 - $151. Which one should I get?

If changed to one of this and I need 4th LAN port, then will have to get a Switch liao.

As mentioned before, AX3600 is a better router (much faster CPU) and it has good enough Wifi spec. And the price is also a bit cheaper than AX6000.

I will only recommend Xiaomi AX6000 over AX3600 if you only want to use it as an AP (you have your own main router, or you use ONR).

Ok. Set on AX3600 then.

So the AX3600 is better than the Asus RT-AC88U that I am using, correct?

Routing performance, Wifi speed (if you have AX device) and stability should be better.

FW features: RT-AC88U may be better. Still Xiaomi AX3600 is sufficient for normal usage. But you can hack the Xiaomi AX3600 by gaining the SSH access and then enable different features as it is based on OpenWRT.

Can't really find an answer Googling, does the mesh network feature on the Xiaomi Series works with other Mesh routers like Linksys Velop?

Or will it only work with Xiaomi Series?

The wifi coverage in my small HDB is surprisingly weak coming from AX6000 ...

Only Xiaomi series. You can buy another AX6000 or China version of Xiaomi AX3600, AX3000 or Redmi AX3000 to form mesh.

But you may want to post your floor plan and placement first to see if the placement is the problem or not. Try to place it in a central location and higher position and do not block it.

I have tried ax3600 and ax6000. IMO ax3600 seems like having slightly better coverage than it’s newer flagship sibling. Funnily most reviews claims it’s better for ax6000

anyway most mesh routers works within their own brands only.

Bought a AX3600 unit to try and mesh it with my AX6000, hopefully it somehow eliminates the deadzone in my bed room that is only separated by one door and it is no more than 15m away from the AX6000 lol.

15m away and one wall, that is a lot for a router...
