if you don't use mio tv or mio voice, maybe tell singtel to remove vlan and then can use

How does removing Vlan work? Their guy will come down to my place or they can change on the spot?

which parts of aztech router are not good?

My Aztech router 2.4 GHZ Wifi keep having intermittent and connection problem. Called singtel, their pinoy CSO keep telling me got duo band as long as the 5 GHZ side still working they wont be able to do anything but
1)The range is terribly small
2)My parent's device only support 2.4 Ghz

So i also lazy to keep calling them, end up getting this router which has surprisingly better connection with the bridge mode.

sorry hor. you are using aztech already, meaning you are using either the home fibre plans or fibre entertainment bundle plans. as far as i know, as long as you are subscribed to any of the listed plans, you cannot simply call in and ask for vlan to be removed like what steven168z said..

if you want a non vlan plan, choose unlimited fibre lor..

As for the concern in red, don't be deceived by an inexperienced cso. as long as the performance is concerned, especially in your case, they are obliged to provide support. You might wanna use the singtel fb page to lodge a service request.

For the range issue, its slightly smaller in coverage, but again its dependent on your house layout. you can try by shifting the location of the router, or simply place it higher up. preferably above 1.5m from ground, this will gain better coverage than making it lie under the tv or so..

It is wifi problem, you can either change freq of wifi on the aztech router, or just add another wireless AP.

Have you tried changing freq?

Hi guys,

I have the Xiaomi Router 2 (1TB), how do you create folders and grant permission like a NAS? Right now it is pretty useless.. Btw, I cannot read Chinese.

U gotta call VQ, ask them set the zhone ONT in Bridge mode and bind to your new router mac address.

Or just tell them u changed to a xiaomi router la. They'll ask for your xiaomi router Mac address, have it ready

Thanks bro! Didn't call them, but I copied the old mac address of the old router over into the Xiaomi one and it works now. :):)

Same issue here.
My current setup is
fibre optic terminal > Aztech router > Xiaomi router.
Is there anyway to connect the terminal directly to xiaomi router, since the Aztech router is redundant anyway :s11::s11:

P/s: Aztech router sux :(

Hi Bro, does that mean that the XM router is in Bridge mode?

And for bridge mode, does it have better Strength / area coverage?

Current issue are that my network coverage seems too small and I still need to maintain the 2 wire modem for mio tv purpose.

Thanks for all reverts!

yes, the lan cable from fiber router has to be plug to the lan port of xiaomi router, not wan port. remember to disable DHCP on the xiaomi router.

as the xiaomi router 3 is only a LAN port (i.e. 100/10mbps) does this mean that when we use it as a bridge the max throughput via wifi (2.4 / 5ghz) will only be capped at 100mbps? or because its wifi, the cap is 300/867mbps?

i am subscribed to 200mbps atm and looking at using this as a bridge in my bedroom.

pvm_xiaomi-mi-wifi-router-3-white-01_14120_1459342006.jpg

Specs:
Two 10 / 100M adaptive LAN port (Auto MDI / MDIX)
A 10 / 100M adaptive WAN port (Auto MDI / MDIX)
2.4G WiFi — 2X2 (IEEE 802.11N protocol support rates up to 300Mbps)
5G WiFi — 2X2 (IEEE 802.11AC protocol support rates up to 867Mbps)

thanks :)

anything go thru lan port will be capped at 100Mbps.

Data transfer between wifi devices will be capped at 300/875 at near perfect environment. lower if there is interference, wall in between or longer distance.

For most people, there is no gain in subscribing internet with high data rate, even 50Mbps is more than enough for most people.

Thanks Gregory.

I understand that part, but actually wanted to know if the wifi speed would be capped if from the wall socket LAN cable is connected to the LAN port of the xiaomi router (as a bridge). All connecting devices to this router is via wifi assuming 5G. Would this still be capped at 100mbps since the wall connects at 100 to the router?

Thanks

you don't use it as bridge - you should use it as AP.

I thought I already mentioned "anything go thru lan port will be capped at 100Mbps" in the earlier reply?
