Small recommendation about using snapshots. I managed to almost brick my r3g router due to a snapshot having a kernel oops. Luckily the failsafe recovery method worked and I was able to revert to a working snapshot.

Anyone knows if xiaomi router will work on SingTel Fibre Service? Heard need some vlan tagging capabilities.

As in I am planning to connect ONT -> SingTel provided router -> Xiaomi router to improve the WiFi signal

you can ignore vlan in your configurations.

just disable xiaomi's dhcp and connect xiaomi's lan port to singtel's lan port.

Actually no point to buy first generation new tech product, like WiFi 6 AX router or 5G phones.

AX router is expensive, not proven, no AX compatible client.

The main focus of AX is technology employed OFDMA
it is widely by mobile telecommunication equipment long before bringing it to wifi routers.


Myth 3 : no AX compatible client
There are already available AX client for laptop/desktop
Do a google search and you can find it easily



My contention is, there is a vendor already bring down the price to a affordable level for consumer to embrace this new technology. Why wait and spend money on outdated stuff ?

it prompt me for credential but i enter my router name and password it say not valid. the user name is not router name?

It should show up under your Network. If it doesn't, then download the Mi Router app and run it on your PC. Then you should see the hard disk appears in your File Explorer.

Could you do me a favour? After you connect the hard disk to the router and can access it from your PC, could you copy 1 x file of about 1GB from your PC, via Gigabit port to your harddisk on your router?

I am using Mi Router 1TB now. I have tested and the transfer speed from my PC to the harddisk connected to my router is about 25MB/s.

The bottleneck should be the HDD. Try connecting a SSD to the router. It should be faster.

From the test I done, I don't think so. The bottleneck should be the USB port. I just hope to get people here with different version of Mi Router to test and share your results.


I am using the old Mi Router 1TB.

Anybody here using this also?
