Anyone using R3P currently, can advise what is the maximum capacity for NAS?

cap? As long the external Nas/HDD is capable of being powered by the usb 3.0 or it have external power source I don't think there'll be any issue

Can anyone tell the difference of Xiaomi router 4A Gigabit vs 100M? I checked that it is the Lan port transmision rate different but if solely using wireless then the cheaper 100M is OK right?

From what i can tell the general specs are lower and WAN port also 100M so no matter how fast the wireless spec is you are bottlenecked at WAN

Both are AC1200 and claim to have gigabit wireless transmision. Even the cheaper version of 4C also got 300mbps transmision. I hv 500mbps fibre and currently using RT N56U, just wanted to upgrade the wireless experience.

WAN port of the 100M version is 100Mbps which will limit the speed. WAN port of the gigabit version is 1000Mbps.

But your pipe to the wider internet is capped at 100mbps. Your 500mbps from ISP will be limited to 100mbps going into the router (WAN port)

my Xiaomi Mesh Router (a set of 2) doesn't seem to work to spread it to my Master Bed Room. Anyone one got similar issue ?

2nd node is actually it's in the middle of the entire house and backhaul via LAN cable. Was hoping to upload the map but yet to scan it hahah

I didn't try the Xiaomi stock firmware for my R3P. I use Openwrt firmware with samba4. It works nicely. Hope someone else using the stock firmware may be able to help you.

Try admin?

Firstly, Is your pc a remote access or directly connected to Lan or WiFi of the router?

If it's directly connected, Under Mi router app, there'll be a list of connected devices. U need to authorise access (by clicking the samba access). Iirc there's no need for username/password once this is done.

If remote access (trying to access Nas via your phone's internet etc), the simple way is to download mi router app (for phone) or mi WiFi (for pc)

Fairly straightforward to setup WPA2-Enterprise using freeradius3 on openwrt-19.07.0-rc1.

R3P only got snapshot firmware at the moment which is good & stable enough for me to switch from stock firmware. The snapshot firmware doesn't have WPA2-Enterprise option yet. I use use WPA2-PSK. Think good enough lah.

You need to uninstall wpad-basic and install wpad-openssl to get WPA2-Enterprise support.

opkg remove wpad-basic
opkg install wpad-openssl

You will also need to install and configure the freeradius3 packages.

Actually wpa2-personal is pretty insecure compared to WPA2-Enterprise due to the lack of perfect forward secrecy. WPA3-SAE fixes this, which is also supported in RC1.

Wireless doesn't work on RC1 so I revert back to snapshot. RC1 using kernel 4.14.151 while snapshot using 4.14.154. I think snapshot also ok lah. It is very stable too. I like regular update & will update once a week.

WPA2-Enterprise is too high tech already for me . Anyway, I tried to install it for fun but not successful. Thanks for sharing.

It's fine if you don't wish to go through the trouble of having to install and configure freeradius3 for WPA2-Enterprise.

However, I would highly recommend that you install the wpad-openssl package so that you at least have WPA3-SAE.
