Shouldn't it be "drop and scratch protection", not "drop and scratch performance"?
Like who drops and scratches their phone as a measure of performance?

If this is true, it should be using the newer plus processor instead of the current one on 1 IV.
Its either the leaked benchmark score of the 8+ gen 1 or still using 8 gen 1 with additional cooling measures. If they indeed changed to plus version of processor it will indeed be a new record because its been damn long since they use plus version of chip set on their phones.

Yeah, Xperia Z to Z1 in same year and different flagship processors.

...However, the Xperia 1 V is rumoured to feature a trio of new rear-facing cameras, unlike the current Xperia 1 IV. For context, the latter also contains the Xperia IMX650 and IMX563 as its telephoto and ultra-wide-angle cameras, respectively. Incidentally, Sony used neither of these in the Xperia 1 III, although we have tested the IMX650 in the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro.

Supposedly, all three of the Xperia 1 V's rear-facing cameras will output at 12 MP though, matching its predecessors. Currently, it is unclear when Sony will unveil the Xperia 1 V. In the meantime, the company is expected to present the Xperia 5 IV and a successor to last year's Xperia PRO-I, neither of which the company has started teasing yet....

Haha I would rather Sony design and use 2 sensors : IMX 557 for all focal ranges 16mm-125mm (minimum ) and another sensor for macro /super macro lens (1cm focusing onwards). If a sensor is even better than IMX557 its of course very welcome because this sensor is already damm good and can go ISO 6400. Great colors and sharpness already achieved with this sensor.

And then maintain this body and battery size and focus on HEAT CONTROL / COOLING SYSTEM and give us continuous 1000 nits display (minimum but of course again higher brightness / sunlight legibility is totally fine )without auto dimming and also maintain the very welcome full flat display as well as other great features of current phone.

Even better if they utilize LTPO / made great progress to display technology which saves even more power consumption (where's the white magic display previously invented ?)

hardware is one thing.. should support software longer la
Yeah I love Sony phones as they have great battery, stock OS and long lasting but this...this is the biggest issue so far. Imagine paying $1,500++ just to have a phone that can only upgrade OS twice and security updates at most for 3 years. If Sony wants to do it, they can do it, but unfortunately like Google (and their Pixels), their smartphones are not the top priority
