fyi, it did touched 17 for a while when news that the auto bailout will not pass but soon corrected...

how long they going to bail out ? next mth jan? when the obama take over the white house?

depend where u going if from tokyo to osaka or hiroshima that will sg3k should be enough if u going this next 6mths cos yen is rising like hell rate.

From Mustafa...... Japan lower the interest rate to 0.1 % also no use it keep going up

think that's the time where the Fed announced the rate cuts to cause Yen to rise to 13yr high against USD...
that will pressure the BOJ to reduce rates too, so maybe that's why Yen is dropping...
Japanese govt have already said they will do something about it and speculation is that BOJ may decrease rates...
let's pray and hope Japan do something sensible and fast this time...

Rat cuts by the Fed bank has put a great impact on the market. But the real impact we can see in Monday trading session. There is some impact for the day also but not that much. As today is Friday the last day of the trading week.

umm this have to see but alot analyst say it will not affect the market too much when they cut the interest rate. i wonder the minister of financial will come out a great brilliant idea to make it go down the rate. hehe or else the motorcar maker n the electronic giant company will make loss

wah so high umm great u exchange abit cos have to sit n wait whether this monday will show any drop down on the currency.

its simple u know. as the foreign investor is selling japan assets n japanese investor buy back n push the currency up

I changed at mustafa this evening ard 6pm+ oso at 1.643 zzz. bo bian liao coz 2molo is the flight, die oso dowan change at airport or tokyo coz i juz called my relatives there 2day they say its still better to change at singapore rather than over there. anyway, do any of u pple know whether we can make payment via debit card (mastercard) when purchasing items and if can, do they base on the current exchange rate?

It really depends on your Credit/debit card see if its by POSB/DBS/UOB

i personally find my UOB cards tend to have lousy exchange rates. DBS better. DBS one is close TT (telegraphic transfer rates)

but, please be reminded

1) not many places accept credit card/debit card
2) DBS/POSB has a $5 surcharge per overseas signed transaction, UOB 1.5% of total charged amount

so its not advice able to use our CC on major dept store to buy stuffs and at akiharabara for electronics stuffs
example if UOB CC card..

i think should hold for a day cos JTB will change after today if any drop in the currency.

somemore today half day the drop of the currency not much only 20 cents drop but who knows later afternoon it go up to normal hiaz.
