Same as me. I have one part of my portfolio regularly DCAing into VWRA, sdp500, nasdaq and dji, whether market up or down. Another I try to stock pick. Can measure own performance for both portfolios as well. This year I have done well for both, but not as good as you.
Yeah, exactly the same thing I want to do. By doing own stock pick, sometimes one will learn from mistakes made. Blindly DCA into ETFs/Fund is to secure a part of our money to grow constantly over time. I actually did mine using Fund Smart (Amundi Prime USA) with Endowus.

Wow this is insanely good! And I guess the bulk came from Affirm. I saw they had a huge rally in Q3. What happened to Q1/Q2? You did not do anything? Saw the graph a bit flatlined there.

Sold tons of csp and cc. Rinse and repeat.
Check the premium, affirm is always juicy af.
And by pure luck, it shot up when I got assigned bigly.

Due to mkt run up, hit 1.5m in brokerage. Another mini milestone on the way to FIRE.

Next step is to move some maturing FD funds into brokerage a/c this month. If run up continues hoping to get close to 2m mark end of year.

3 months later…

1.75m in brokerage. Probably won’t hit 2m target for eoy, but fingers crossed.

Nice to see everyone is doing well. My portfolio is relatively small compare to many of you but here goes. I using Saxo, ibkr and Poems. My MMF at Poems is waiting for dips to buy so no positions.
yes, i agree. its good to have good returns, and even better to see everyone else doing well. good to see that 2024 is another good year for the stock market. all the permabears in hiding....

everyone is different and may have different investment strategy and different portfolios, but lets all huat together!

A lot of permabears still on YouTube though. I keep seeing people who keep trying to predict the next crash, it seems to always be round the corner. I have learnt my lessons, I had miss out on the rebound from great financial crisis because the next drop is always round the corner and I believed in the narrative.

The doomsayers are too smart for their good.
If the market crash, they will predict an even bigger crash.
As always, too many analysis but NO action.

I wonder where are they now.

I am quite happy with my ytd.
2 months to go, if I can push it over 200%, I will have 2 girls at a time.

For those who post your returns which are saying US stocks ETF it is not the final returns becuz those are in USD. If say depends which date you change that big sum back to SGD your returns may not be that high. This is just a reminder to other newbie readers the entire workflow. The same logic apply to those whose returns are in say HKD.

As long as you never get back SGD this returns are subject to another round of processing which can boost up or boost down. For those that will never change back to SGD congrats those are good returns.

To me the correct way to measure profits is I input how much SGD over the years then do a lot of whatever stuff finally I get back return how much SGD. This is the true returns.

I feel even for people who want to be a permabear. Just imagine you have only 50% of your networth. Then allocate that 50% into safe cash/bonds and remaining 50% into risk assets. So cannot go 100% wrong in either direction. You can only be 50% wrong.

I would be interested to learn what investing strategy a permabear uses to achieve FIRE or what their returns are? Do they actually make money shorting the market or do they just sit on cash and FOMO? 🤔

or maybe they use social media to earn ad revenue from promoting doom & gloom & conspiracy theories.... 😅

Now with moderately high ir, 50/50 allocation is OK but not when ir at near zero

I like the time when the market fluctuates the most, that is the easiest time for me to invest.
