19 this year.

Liquid cash - $6.9k

Stocks and Bonds - $9k

Net worth as of now is about $16.9k

Aim to reach $25k before enlistment.

I have a daring goal to reach $40k after ORD.

Ah...

Made me reminisce of my younger days, how fast time had passed.

Was able to save >$500/mth while waiting for enlistment and >$1k/mth during my NS days.

All gone to pay for my tuition fees after ORD.

In fact, I "lost" $8k during my NS; paid for 2 semester but dropped out after another institution offered another course that I much preferred.

$15K in 2 years is not hard. All the best. :o

What advice do your parents give you? Might be higher quality advice than what you get on the internet... :s13:

Maybe his parent's default advice is to put in FD, young boy should not dabble in stocks, should concentrate in studies. That's y he came here to look for advice. :s13:

Ur salary savings is the major contributor of your networth! :)

If I were you, I would just go for properties with that type of income savings.
While focusing on the job an letting the property(s) take care of itself.
Over the long run, if you think indexes are going to trend up, I would say property would most probably trend up as well.

that's why it's a waste of his time haggling with equities and bonds.
Just focus on the job and feed money into properties.

Sure retire richer than most equities/bonds investors given the same capital...

Single parent family. My mum did not have a good education but worked diligently at her job for 20 years to raise me and my sister up. No advice from her at all as she doesnt invest due to a lack of knowledge.
