No notification sent, if your existing telco no line and you switch to Z1 to main sim with an active connection, Congratulations, port-in completed. :ROFLMAO:
Maxx certainly does a better job here, but I guess we don't port on a daily basis :
SMS to notify port request will be process by donor on X date, and that you will be notify of approval/rejection.
SMS to update approval/rejection status and to expect when to expect port process
SMS to update completion of port process.

Yes, when I ported to max, the experience was good, notified as each key milestone.

Just port in this morning and VoWifi doesn't seem to work so reach out to Zero1 CSM and got this message :
"Please be informed that our Zero1 network does not support VoWifi (Voice over Wi-Fi) at this time.
Calls and messages can only be made or received via the cellular network."

That directly contradicts what was mentioned by Zero1 less than 2 weeks ago :
"VoWifi/Wi-Fi calling is available for all plans that support Singtel Network compatibility"

Is VoWifi still working for others on Zero1 ?

Never worked for me at all when i was using Z1. So jumped to maxx.
This gets more interesting :
"Wifi calling is supported but VoWifi not supported under Zero1 MVNO network.
We understand Singtel network does support but not under MVNO network."

Actually I was thinking isn't the $15 Streamo Freedom 5G plan the most worthwhile to get 5G at a low cost currently on ST network? (Maybe even better than Maxx)

You pay 6 mths: $15 x 6 = $90
You get another 6 mths free: $90 / 12 = $7.5

Effectively, you're only pay $7.50 for 5G access per month in a year which is even cheaper than eight's 4G base plan.

This should be very similar to zym's Roam Smart 5G plan but your number can't be with zym for the last 12 mths which is a huge turnoff.

They are eventually going to transition to 5G SA by the end of the year anyways and with the current promo isn't it a very good deal? Apart from the 12 mths stay in and non singtel/singtel mvnos port ins are there any other drawbacks to this strategy?

1) You are "locked in" and cannot be flexible for 12 months. Of course you can leave, but you lose the benefits.
2) Downgrade will result in the lost of the free 6 months, and Zero1 charges $10.90 for downgrade.
3) Free roaming countries limited to those 13, and voice roaming is cut throat. You can mitigate that somewhat with a separate short term sim from simba/eight, or travel esim.
4) No VoWifi (for any Singtel MVNO), important for some, irrelevant for others.

1) True that you can't port out otherwise you lose out on the benefits. However, at below $8/mth, i foresee that the plan's pricing will still be competitive in a year's time considering most of the cheapest 4G plans today still hovers around the $7+ mark per mth. Unless you factor in senior plans which doesn't apply to some.

2) Don't have to downgrade, just use the plan for 1 year and then keep a lookout for other cheaper deals and then port out. By Q4 2026 most of the 5G SA plans should be quite prominent and cheap already.

3) Yeah this is somewhat situational for someone if they do travel a lot outside of APAC.

4) Also situational as well if a person make calls often but that can also be mitigated in app calls thru whatsapp, telegram etc.

*Edited for local context.

Not just calls, also for OTP & SMS notification.

The original intention of this feature to allow communication when cellular signal is poor, eg like for new estate or if work at a basement etc. Certainly situation for this purpose.

Also great for those who prefers to stay in airplane mode. Either for battery, privacy or other considerations.

Another usage is for oversea OTP/notification even if there is no roaming capability, but as far as I know only Simba works for this purpose as M1 and probably Starhub/Singtel blocks wifi calling access when overseas.

yes, this is the cheapest plan with the least t&c tied to it. i'm jumping to this when my cycle is up with maxx. haha.

when one is out and about and has no wifi, one can only depend on cellular to make calls. how does wifi help?

I received a lot of junk sms in jb using Maxx. No cellular roaming does not mean cannot receive sms.
