went down to PS to recontract yesterday.....given free 6+3mths for 1Gps BB @39.9mth.....27mths contract...no free WiFi router which I no need, prefer frill-free...so effective sub is 26.60mth ...money saved can use to buy a better router than the free ones...or as savings...359.10.....

No.

ONT Port 1: the only port active for 500Mbps and 1Gbps plan

ONT Port 2: for those with Fibre TV (not the new Starhub TV+ Box)

ONT Port 3: second port active for those with Starhub 2Gbps plan (two networks, two public IPs).

If your Linksys works fine, then no need to change. Nokia Beacon 1 is a lower end AC1200 grade router compare to the AC2600 grade of Linksys EA7500 v2 and EA8100 v1.

Main advantage of Nokia Beacon 1 is that you can buy one more unit to form a mesh, and it supports wireless connection of Starhub TV+ box. Linksys EA7500 V2 and EA8100 V1 only support wired connection to Starhub TV+ Box.

Presently using my D Link router, re contract got the Nokia Beacon 1, need to change for better wi fi coverage, or not much difference? Coz only 1 port out for Lan. So still thinking to change or sell away...thanks!

Most of the reports here say that Nokia Beacon 1 is worse than DIR-868L, EA7500 v2 and EA8100 v1, interms of wireless coverage. But YMMV. Resale value is low due the low rating of the Nokia.

If your existing D-Link is functional, then probably no point to change and then you can sell your Nokia Beacon 1. If your existing D-Link is not good enough, you can get another D-Link or get an EA7500 v2 which probably performs better than the D-Link.

Thks for replying....my present D Link still ok...coz got 6 IP cams and 1 doorbell to configure....troublesome...guy ask me to get 1 to 4 Lan port coz behind only 1 Lan output...was disappointed. When put the 4 port does it worsen the speed?

If you use the Nokia Beacon 1, yes it is good to add a switch like TP-Link TL-SG105 to have more LAN ports. Performance will not be affected.

All up to you. S$60 is a good price already for Nokia Beacon 1. Last time it was S$35 to S$40.

Not correct. EA8100 V1 also can support Starhub TV+ box using wifi but can not watch FTA channels if on wifi. It can watch FTA channels only with a wired connection.
