i'm on SH 1 Gbps nearing end of contract, went to read the sales order I signed two years ago, and noticed there is a line saying "50% perpetual discount" next to the box that says the regular price is $69.90

Rang 1633 to confirm, indeed seems like the discount continues even after my 24mo contract ends, i.e. I pay $34.90 for 1Gbps even after contract is over. Even the CSO agreed with me that it is better to stick with contractless than to sign a new contract at $42.90 or downgrade to 500 Mbps at $29.90 (which will incur a one-time admin fee).

So I advise everyone to study their contracts v carefully before renewing.
My contract expired and it reverted back to the original price. I only noticed it when my bill came.

Not correct. EA8100 V1 also can support Starhub TV+ box using wifi but can not watch FTA channels if on wifi. It can watch FTA channels only with a wired connection.
Yes that is correct. On the other hand, you can use any router if you do not need the MediaCorp FTA channel, using wired or wireless. You do not even need to subscribe to Starhub Fibre Internet if you do not need the MediaCorp FTA channels. And you can always use MeWatch for the MediaCorp FTA channels (and more like VoD).

You need to read the contract. Different people may have different contract terms and conditions. If the contract has the word "perpetual discount", that is good even after contract expires.

You can check your Starhub broadband service agreement using the MyStarhub app: Go to Broadband and click "View service agreement" in the bottom.

Yes, my contract says Perpetual Discount which is why it continued to bill the discounted price even after contract

Where do you find that clause?

In the service agreement.

Switching ISP is easy but costly.

01. Arrange new ISP to install and activate the service
02. Moved all your device to the new ISP
03. Once new ISP is running. You can arrange termination on 2nd ISP.

No downtime. but involve cost to maintain 2 ISP during this period.

Been with starhub for many years... that's why every recontract they will give some special offer.

Had wanted to switch over to ST mio tv but seems now they also limit the channels unlike past.

Like that can sign. Fibre is very stable and not like android. I have English entertainment and Asian entertainment and now add a movies pass as add on channel so i have many channels to watch. if you do not watch Chinese show can take English entertainment and Movies pass. If got watch chinese show then may be Asian entertainment and Movies pass and add $1 TVB. Next year my contract expiring and i hope they offer me the same fibre TV. Even if internet down for my router i also can still watch the TV as it connection is from the ONT and not router. Router faulty still can watch.

Starhub Facebook ads:

Just take note the Nokia Beacon 1 is for sure not worth S$199, but rather around S$40 to S$50 in Carousell.
