13A plug comes with rectangular pins whereas 15A plug comes with thicker round pins. There should be voltage and current labels on the plug itself.
as long as you know the shape of the pins is determined by regulation, not the voltage/current.
A bad electrician can just as easily wire a standard UK flat pin type box to a 15A line. Or a handyman could just as easily change a flat pin plug to a round pin plug to fit a round pin socket.

All this is against the COP, but people can and will still do.

Violent n Dangerous n Trespass
Refer to Post # 2001, #2011 #2012, #2021 for details.

Improper installation of instant water heater, no valve, cable exposed etc by this violent HDB Licensed contractor, I think he is an unlicensed electrician.

Complained to HDB on his bad installation n his violence n was referred to get another contractor to rectify n post to media etc :( :(((

Lots of ppl including PG etc dont know abt such safety at all !!

Really hope HDB will safeguard n must checks n ensure n punish those unethnic / unprofessional.

HDB should stop pushing their responsibilities for safety !!

We are living in HDB ! not landed n such impacts affect many neighbours too etc..

Isnt HDB the rightful 'owners' for HDB flats n bear the respinsibilities?

many things is basic knowledge.

you drive car, at least know need to service and check tyres , pump air and petrol ..

buy TV at least know the HDMI standards because of devices.

know how to change light bulbs , fix simple plumbing stuff , drill , etc.

many other things in life but people lazy rather tiktok , chase idols , enjoy life than learn basic life skills.

in school, while many subjects people will say waste time study , it is training your brain to be diverse. how you link things together is own ability. that is what separates good from mediocre people.

Read HWZ Forum Rules!
actually I know many car owners don't know how to check their oil level. don't know which one is the brake fluid reservoir.

If you know, why don't you take the opportunity to educate than to talkdown people who do not possess the knowledge?
his knowledge is very surface, all he does is read up on online materials which can be easily found on the internet. Basically, dont learn from all these so called "read up on internet" ppl. Learn from ppl who actually are certified and are properly trained in the first place.

what's the difference between voltage / current / watt / amp / joule ??
Voltage is the potential. Think of it as how high is the waterfall.
Current is the volume of charge. Think of it as how much water flowing down the waterfall.
Watt is the power. It is the product of voltage and current.
amp is the measure of current.
joule is the amount of energy. For electricity it is the watts times the time (in seconds).

Everyone should know basic electricity stuff..... At least know basic things like fuse, 3 colour coded wires, ampere, circuit breaker, types of plugs etc.....

This is not rocket science and super duper easy one leh.... Can save your life one day.

Me surprised that so many in this forum don't even know basic things like what is earth wire for, why water heaters should not use a standard 13A 3pin plug and why need different wire, why aircon plug is different from the usual one.
eh you don't say like that. I have reletive, change light tube also ask shop people to change for him. its a fluorescent tube, those T8 type. $40 for that, downstairs hardware shop... tube different charges ok...

depends whether balanced of unbalanced load.
Lol now that's going deep into the rabbit hole.

The manual really needs to be consulted for this one. My UPS for example normally requires 16A 3ph under normal
operation.

By extension a 20A 3p overcurrent protection device should suffice right?

Why then do the specs recommend 20a on L2 and L3 and 63A on L1?

Bypass mode takes the load off the 3ph inverter and dumps it all on L1. That's one example where there is a seriously imbalanced load profile where nothing is being drawn on two of the phases whilst the remaining phase takes all the load.

Fully agree with this :o .

Although basic electrical knowledge was taught in Sec School, many ppl forgot it. This showed that irrelevant stuffs are being taught in schools locally :( .

I strongly suggest basic electrical, plumbling knowledge to be taught to all Singaporean males during their NS :s8: , so they can apply the skill next time to their family or community :o .

What is the use when you can shoot M16, SAR21, MP5 etc, can fly F5, F16 but you dunno how to solve a simple electrical trip or change a leaky tap or WC parts :s8::s8::s8:

Somemore we can cut down on FTWs if we know how to do these works ourselves. There are no worries that you will be charge absurdly for the service & those Anti-foreigners will be happy when we can cut down on foreigners :s8:

haha.. I don't have the answers.. unfortunately I haven't kept up with these stuff. If L3 can draw up to 63A, then wouldn't your 20A overcurrent protection fail?
