No more 1Gbps plan? SH website is now 2Gbps at $39 with that stupid linksys router. That 1+1 plan or single 2Gbps? They must well upgrade to 2.5Gbps plan right. 🫠

Seem like next year I need to call SH CSO for better deal without router and free for xx months.

Starhub got rid off 500Mbps/1Gbps plan for new users. Existing users can still continue using 500Mbps plan (usually no recontract needed as the price remains the same after contract expires) or 1Gbps plan (may require recontract as the price may go up, check your service requirement).

Starhub 2Gbps plan is a dual 1Gbps plan, similar to M1 2Gbps plan.

You can use Starhub/M1 2Gbps plan as two 1Gbps line (two independant network with two routers), or you can use it with a Dual WAN Load Balancing capable router (eg: Asus RT-AX86U Pro, Asus TUF-AX6000 or Asus GT-AX6000) to get >1Gbps with single connection and single network.

I was hopping other ISPs to come out with true 2.5Gbps plan after SIMBA's 2.5Gbps plan. Unfortunately it seems to me that would not happen, since Singtel/Starhub are promoting 5Gbps plan instead. Take note I do not recommend SIMBA 2.5Gbps plan at all unless you use it as a backup line (CGNAT, slow speed, unproven stability, etc).

On the other hand, I think SH/M1 2Gbps plan at S$39 are pretty decent if you want to upgrade from 1Gbps (or if you can not get a good recontract deal for 1Gbps).

Starhub 5Gbps plan at S$45 is also a decent deal even if used as a true 2.5Gbps plan (eg: you can choose to go with the ONT option and then use your own 2.5G capable router)

If it does not work, just click the "Quick Internet Setup" on the upper left corner of the Asus router Web GUI and set it up again. Asus router is quite easy to set up.
Yup I did that .. but doesn’t work.. is it need to setup as new connection? I chose the advance settings though

I recontracted to SingTel 5Gbps .. the new ZTE ONT/ONR can be configured to bridge mode

Indeed this is tempting.

Just wondering how much did you pay for the Singtel 5Gbps plan? S$49.90 per month which is the same as new user offer?
https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/broadband/eform/5gbps

I went to the shop on Thursday and they told me the NTUC offer for 5Gbps plan at S$47.72 was meant for new users.
https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/lifestyle-services/ntuc#20--off-broadband-plans

I did not ask further as my main goal was to get the 1Gbps recontract which they offered me at S$39.90 per month (2Gbps at S$39.95 per month).

You do not need to use advanced settings (only Singtel ONT user may need that for VLAN and Singtel TV). Just go by the normal settings and change settings later.

"Starhub 5Gbps plan at S$45 is also a decent deal even if used as a true 2.5Gbps plan (eg: you can choose to go with the ONT option and then use your own 2.5G capable router)"

For that the folks here say need to do it at physical store to ask for ONT on the $45 as default paired with Nokia ONR. Now for extra $10 online can get ONT with TP 810v which bring the cost up.

Abit troublesome to get queue and wait at physical store and not guaranteed that SH ground CSO will comply with the ONT request for $45 5Gbps plan, still waiting for SH plan with 5Gbps with ONT and no router bundle online, perhaps to bring the cost down to $40/mth, then the 2Gbps (1+1) can no need to exist. Two plan either 5Gbps or 10Gbps. SH backend equipment must be able to handle all these new high speed users getting onboard more and more.

As for the 2Gbps plan, sadly is not true 2Gbps but rather useless 1+1 so called "2Gbps" plan and no news on will there be upgrade plan under the ultraspeed umbrella with true 2.5Gbps along with 5Gbps and 10Gbps. Let's hope then!

But for now I know my Asus ZenWifi XT12 does suppprt Dual WAN feature.

For those who really care about the Starhub/MR lower speed during peak hours, then there is another option to go with Singtel 5Gbps plan if you can take the risk and brigde the Singtel issued ZTE F8648P XGS-PON ONR.

Singtel only offers the ZTE F8648P XGS-PON ONR for 5Gbps/10Gbps plan and they do not entertain ONR bridging request as of now. But if you want to take the risk, you can bridge the ZTE F8648P ONR by yourself.

Singtel new user offer for 5Gbps plan is at S$49.90 per month. Now they also have Singtel-NTUC offer for new sign-up at S$47.72 per month.

Singtel 5Gbps/10Gbps plan new user offer and Singtel-NTUC offer.

Starhub Physical store should be fine, not very crowded if I look at Jurong Point.
Singtel >= Starhub >> M1 in terms of the customers waiting in the queue.

As for true 2.5Gbps plan (except SIMBA), I kind of give up already since Starhub/Singtel are pushing for 5Gbps plan. I agree that 1+1 Gbps plan will be eventually phased out once 5Gbps plan is getting into the S$40 price range.

There is no issue to wait for the future 5Gbps/10Gbps plan offerings.

I have two internet lines.
1) I will keep my Starhub 500Mbps plan (out of contract since 2020).
2) I am trying to recontract Singtel 1Gbps plan at S$39.90 per month, even though it is tempting to go for Singtel 5Gbps plan if they can offer the same new user pricing for recontract users like me (need to take the risk to bridge the ONR by myself).
3) I will only sign up the 10Gbps plan in 2026 or even 2028. 10Gbps gears are still not cheap now. I am slowly building up 10G gears now. Main thing is that I do not have LAN ports in the rooms. Thinking of laying Fibre by myself (my wife supports the idea of using translucent fibre).

My guess for future Fibre internet plan pricing in Singapore (no more dual 1Gbps plan) -- year 2025 to year 2028
1) Basic 1Gbps plan using GPON ONT or aggregated 2Gbps/2.5Gbps using GPON ONR or SIMBA true 2.5Gbps plan with GPON ONT -- S$21.80 per month (including 9% GST), or up to S$32.70 per month (including 9% GST) with 2.5G capable wireless router

2) Basic 5Gbps plan -- around S$40 per month with XGS-PON ONR (with wireless), or with XGS-PON ONT/ONR+ basic wireless router; around S$50 with 10Gbps capable WiFi 7 router.

3) Basic 10Gbps plan -- around S$50 per month with XGS-PON ONR (with wireless), or with XGS-PON ONR/ONT+ basic wireless router; around S$60 with 10Gbps capable WiFi 7 routera. SIMBA 10Gbps plan may continue to be the cheapest at S$32.70 per month if it can survive.

by right lah, it should be 'plug N play'. if all fails, just hard reset the Wireless router.

also, do a backup-config so you could save time instead of manually doing it again after hard-reset...

Today SH call back team suddenly called me to say that there is nothing wrong with their network and i should seek the router's vendor help as it is the router issue. I told them that the Nokia router was changed by support a few times. I reminded them that their CSO has confirmed that it is SH backend capacity issue causing the slow internet speed during peak hours and they are working to upgrade their back end equipment to resolve the issue. Which is which? I asked whether can back end confirmed that it is a capacity issue? Strange la.

IMDA has some interesting statics.
https://www.imda.gov.sg/about-imda/...consumer-feedback/statistics-for-jan-mar-2024

For broadband services: VQ and MR have more complaints in terms of complaints per 10,000 subscribers. Singtel is actually the best among the providers.

I guess WC and SIMBA do not have too many subscribers to be included in the statistics.

VQ has always been the worst judging from this forum because of the down time frequency. MR results are a bit surprising, probably the complaints may be more because of the recent problems, caused by Starhub backend.

M1 complaints are also higher than Singtel/Starhub, probably because of the lousy app (payment issues).
