Just a friendly reminder, back in GE2011, when PAP George Yeo realised that there might be a chance that PAP might lose Aljunied GRC, this is what he did:

Yea this is the problem. It's no longer just about SXL. Voting for SXL means voting for Janil.

And which punggol resident wants Janil instead of SXL? Not like the punggol residents have a choice. Later tio Janil already then good luck suffering for another 5 years.
I wan SXL but dun wan put2cherry how ?

Go ask Northshore residents bah. See what janil had done for them. northshore plaza is a mess. So many shops closed due to high rental. you imagine HDL can close shop there. Hock Hua tonic also closed shop there. The two car LRT for peak hour is the main thing for residents there.
I understand all these being a punggol voter.

But the fact is that we have never seen WP in our area. It’s very hard for a lot of residents to be convinced of their sincerity. 10% vote swing against PAP is almost impossible to attain

No. But I saw PAP. Even if I saw a ghost of WP in the last 5 years I would still be satisfied. Doesn’t need to be the same candidate. The last person I voted for tan Chen Chen totally vanished

I think oppos (sdp, wp, psp) this time will win 2 grcs and 2 smcs. This is assuming hougang, aljunied, and sengkang are retained.
I want more WP MPs in while PAP form government. Unfortunately, i am not so optimistic as you.

My prediction is only aljunied and hougang retain. Sengkang grc would go back to PAP. I hope i am wrong.

Let's frame it in another way...

For example home area has only 1 f&b outlet. As of now, you dislike the food served.. Edible but not appetizing. If an alternate food outlet opens, will you be willing to give them a chance? Or will you just stick to same old food?

that's because PAP is elected in last GE. Thus it is their duty to be around. you want to see WP around, you need to elect them in first ma. Once they are elected MPs in Punggol GRC, I'm sure you'll see them around frequently.

Did you stay in Sengkang? I am staying in 19X Rivervale Drive and i can tell you WP is going to win again!
No i don't. I hope what you are saying is correct.

It is the national vote swing that is worrying. Now people seem to be scared of trade war and also sympathetic to GKY with pap playing victim card... reminding me of 2015.

Just a little national swing and sengkang will be gone... unless they somehow managed to garner huge support over the past 5 years.

Short-sightedness is what costs us a competitive government. Singaporeans just want to focus on the benefits of what their candidate can bring to them, like can this candidate benefit my precinct, have this candidate walked the grounds before, will this candidate help me with my concerns. The fact that you have never seen WP in your area is precisely the fact the Punggol GRC belonged to Paris-Punggol GRC before GE2025, and WP had no intentions to compete in the former Paris-Punggol GRC. Why would they have walked the grounds if they have no intentions of competing, especially since oppo parties' resources are limited and stretched? They have to focus all efforts and resources on the estates that they had intentions to compete in before all these gerrymandering.

It is sad that we do not see flaws in the system and think about the high level advantage of having a more balanced parliament.

We really deserved the government that we voted for. Such a tragedy.
