Difference of the 10Gbps plan and 6Gbps plan, both with two ZenWiFi BT10, is at S$4 per month (S$50.90 per month vs S$46.90 per month, both new user offer). Bandwidth difference is probably about 2.5Gbps.

Take note that the 10Gbps plan is limited by the XGS-PON technology used -- max speed is at about 8.2Gbps, same for all local ISPs now.

I got the $32.90 6Gbps plan in a physical M1 shop with free BE805.

That is only for recontract and for targeted existing M1 customers. I mentioned that earlier.

For new users, it is S$34.90 per month for 6Gbps plan with free Archer BE805. Top up S$12 per month for the Asus AImesh solution: two Asus ZenWiFi BT10. That will come to S$46.90 per month.

Hmm, I tend to believe that is more of a router spec and not the ISP bandwidth spec.

Typical 10G capable routers should have no issues with routing 8.2Gbps with ≥ 512 Bytes packets with the switch fabrics built-in. Not so sure about 64 bytes packet.

Once CPU related functions come into play (eg: Wireguard VPN, or worse OpenVPN), performance will drop significantly.

Renewed my M1 1G to 6G fibre at almost the same/lower price after contract. With the pushing of >1G plan, really make lots of sense to just upgrade. The plan comes with a pretty good mid range Asus router which also support flashing to Merlin firmware. To me is a big plus just in case I changed my mind not to sell it, since I have never stayed with the default Asus firmware on all my Asus router purchase. Always find Merlin to be much more stable instead of chasing for highest speed.

Downside there is only 1x 10G WAN/LAN with a lower clocked CPU as compared to BE86 (though should suffice for most), but comes with 6Ghz. Nevertheless still a good choice for most home users. Will still choose this over the tp-link BE805. Will be auctioning off to fund my soon to arrive 4x 10G intel X710-T4 NIC for my pfsense to run >10G on load-balancing (M1 + MR)

Yeah I’m also on Merlin wrt with my TUF AX6400, damn stable and easy to portforward with opennat.

The BE92U seems to be a slight step down in features and hardware. Unfortunately M1 don’t offer the better routers like MR, gamer plan also discontinued.

Not interested in TP link, seen enough people complain about dropped connections.

For some reason when I turn on NordVPN, the Youtube lag goes away. Maybe you can try out if you have a vpn sub with any provider.

Packets don't only come at 1500 size, it can be fragmented. There could also be a throughput limit instead of packets limit. Running a test at 64 bytes can show you the max number of packets possible and from there calculate the max throughput, comparing with actual throughput test to see if ISP is throttling. Of course, it can also show you the limit of your network hardwares.

M1 only uses ONT. Same for MR and SIMBA.

Starhub used to have Nokia XGS-PON ONR option but now use only ONT in general.

VQ by default uses bridged ONR, basically same as ONT. Users can request to configure it in Router mode but that is not the normal case.

SingTel and WC use only ONR. SingTel now charges S$10 per month for official XGS-PON ONR bridging by SingTel.

M1 Shops maintain their own separate router inventory from their main online stock. So you may like to call 1623 (M1 Shop hotline) to inquire about the specific M1 Shop's BE805 stock, but that would also mean that you have to head down to the shop yourself to sign up.

Thanks both! I checked online today and the be805 is back in stock, managed to recontract at $32.90 per month (after the $15 off voucher for 24 months for existing users), not too shabby!

It would make you feel more shiok to hear that I just signed up with M1 at $30.90 per mth, just $2 cheaper than yours BUUUUTTTTT mine is only a 3Gbps bundle with BE230 router. So that makes your recontract deal a whole lot more bang for buck.

Hello all, I would appreciate it if any of the gurus here are able to help me. I'm staying in an old 5 room flat (no ethernet infrastructure in the entire house and not really keen to renovate the house just for wifi issues so wired backhaul is not an option) with the ONT at one corner of the house near the entrance and currently using the Archer AX72 that M1 gave previously, but the wifi reception at the master bedroom at the opposite end is really weak and the door needs to be open which is not ideal.

So right now I have 2 options since my contract is up for renewal,
1. Go with the 6Gbps at $35/mth, use the new BE805 as main router and put the AX72 in the middle of the house for mesh (I'm assuming they can work together easily without jumping through too much hoops)
2. Go with the 10Gbps at $51/mth and just use the ZenWifi BT10 at the fiber point and the second one in the middle of the house for mesh.

I have to recontract anyway since I'm currently paying $40 for the 1Gbps. I don't really need the 10Gbps speed but I would like the reception at the MBR to be much better so my mother will stop complaining about how slow everything is in the MBR.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
