Anyone using AC66U with VQ ?

i am connecting ONT -> AC66U -> PC using cat6 wired connection but i am getting super slow download/upload speed

like 40+mbps download and 1mbps upload.

is there any setting i am missing out on the ac66u ?

I'm using the asus rt-ac66u router in bridge mode with the zhone modem/router with no issues.

I haven't had much experience personally with the AC66. But sounds like something very wrong?

Were you using another router before or was the zhone in routed mode?

i call NOC and they set zhone to bridge mode already

my ac66u to port 1 and i am having slow speed

I'm using the asus rt-ac66u router in bridge mode with the zhone modem/router with no issues.

basically the ac66u WAN into zhone port 1 , and my pc to port 1 of ac66u , not sure if i am doing it wrong

any setting i am missing out ?

whats your ac66u filmware ?

I'm using the firmware 3.0.0.4.270 from asus. How did you go about doing the speedtest? Via Speedtest.net? Any security suite or anti-virus software? Also maybe you can try with another cable to make sure there is no issue with the current cable.

i am on .260 , dun think its have tat much a difference

yes directly from speedtest.net

could not be a cable issue. i connect directly from pc to zhone and i got 160+mbps download and 60+ mbps upload

its only after zhone -> ac66u -> pc that i am having this issue

Weird, actually I cannot get a connection when doing a direct connection to GE port 1 once the bridge mode is done and can only get the connection through my router. From my memory, I can connect direct from GE port 2 though which I read is a pure US VPN route kind of connection. Did you give VQ your router MAC address for bridging to be done?

Has anyonw tried using the new Apple Airport Extreme with VQ?
Better than Zhone?

We are currently testing this device. In comparison to the zhone's wireless features, it supports 2.4ghz and 5ghz concurrently. The Apple is also supposed to support AC. The wireless performance when in close proximity to the device seems impressive.

However with an old apartment with lots of thick walls the speed does seem to drop a fair bit. But you can repeat the signal with the Airport Express which is quite nice.

These are just our initital findings and am sure can be improved by finding a better location for the Airport Extreme.

What other routers are you testing?

I am using the new 802.11ac AEBS. The current WLAN setup I have is 2 x AirPort Extreme (one is 5th Gen, one is 6th Gen 802.11ac) for coverage across the HDB EA I am staying in.

In terms of throughput, I still don't have any 802.11ac client yet to test with. In terms of coverage range, there are improvement for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFis, though not significantly noticeable.

The coverage improvement comes from the new antenna design in the new 802.11ac AEBS where it is now 3T3R while the older generations AEBS are 2T2R. In order to fully benefit (in terms of throughput) from this new AEBS, the WiFi client needs to be 3T3R too, otherwise it will still only achieve throughput which 2T2R is capable of.

That's why i like the Netgear R6300 with the beamforming too. Even through my thick walls in the bathroom on the opposite side of my flat, I still get 3/4 bars. :D

I believe the new 6th gen AEBS has "beamforming" too. ;)

Beamforming puts the focus on your device.

With 802.11ac technology comes the intelligent, powerful beamforming antenna array. Most base station antennas emit an equal and constant Wi-Fi signal in all directions. But the beamforming antenna array is smarter — it knows where an 802.11ac device is on the network. Then AirPort Extreme targets its signal to that device. So your Wi-Fi signal is stronger, clearer and faster.

Reference: Apple

It's essentially hollow, and designed to fit a 3.5" drive. Seems like it's designed for a future version with Time capsule built in.

AirPort Extreme A1521 Teardown - iFixit

Do note that beamforming is limited by the antenna array all being in the top plate:

AirPort Extreme A1521 Teardown - Page 2 - iFixit

Unlike some other routers that use 3 long internal antennas and actually rotate them to face toward distant devices.

If you ain't aware, the Time Capsule using the same design was announced together with the 6th gen AEBS and available together too.

Maybe you can pop over to Apple website to take a look at what is currently available.

Ah, well that explains it then.

And I do my best to avoid the fruits, thanks!

As we give you a static IP address you wont have to trouble yourself with things like dynamic dns or whatever. The simple port forwarding to your IP camera can be easily setup by just getting our helpdesk to help you out.

Hi VQW,
How much is the charge for change of address?
The new place is fiber-ready and the subscriber does not change.
Thanks.

I am still not getting any replies from NOC.

It's been a week and bad latency still happens on SC2 HOTS Bnet servers.

I'm very sorry that no one has contacted you yet - i believe the engineers have been looking into it but not sure if they've found the cause of the problem yet. I'll check with them and make sure someone contacts you to at least give an update on the situation.
