Hi gohnick,

Just leave it default or you can adjust Dwell to 1600.

Default - 3600/60 = 60 minutes - 1 hour waiting time switching from 2.4Ghz to 5Ghz

Hey Guys, need some advice here. Planning to put a Access point on the second level of my house. But before I do that, I would like to clarify some stuff. Currently, I'm using the RT-87U and thought of getting a RT-88U for my access point.

1. It is okay to have different models for Access Point?

2. How the RT-88U so far? Should I wait for a more stable firmware before getting it?

Hi evildoctor,

Replace your RT-AC87U to RT-AC88 as main router.

RT-AC87U set as AP "Access Point"

RT-AC88U currently very stable and you can ahead and install the firmware 3.0.0.4_380_2064 - Can be found on the previous form page.

Okay thank you! But why should I replace rt-87u as my main router? Cause most likely, I would like to have stable wifi on the second floor.

Dear Evildoctor,

RT-AC88U NAT raw speed WAN- LAN/Wireless is faster than RT-AC87U.

Anyway RT-AC88U is much stable than RT-AC87U in term of every feature.

Okay. Thank you very much for your advice! Should I consider The AC5300 also? Or get the AC88U?

Hi @poor_poor, ,may I know why you suggested RT-88U instead of RT-AC5300? Because I m also considering buying one of them.

Hi Mksing,

RT-AC88U is faster than RT-AC5300 even both using same chipset.

WAN - LAN/Wireless

advice on wifi-signal

hi guys, I had brought the asus 88u and have been using it for awhile. It seems like the wifi signal that I have been getting is worse than my pervious asus router which I had place inside the TV console. Any ideal how to I bridge the 88u to xiaomi router (secondary router).

Hi colincjw,

Do you enable the AiProtection, Adaptive Qos or Traffic Analyzer option? If yes, please try to turn off them and check the speed again.

Thank.
