X700 -> $419
Xbox One X -> $699

Interface between Blu ray and console are different.
Xbox you need to install Blu ray app to play, you have to go
through a sophisticated menu if you want to tweak any setting.

Blu ray player wise just insert a disc and start playing.
Startup time of blu ray player is way faster than console.
Console wise it won't be able to remember where you last stop.
Between console and blu ray definitely got difference but depend
on your preference.

But for HTS enthusiast like myself blu ray player still wins hands down.
Xbox one X no news about Dolby Vision support.

Locally SG so far Sony, LG and Samsung.
Oppo have announced it's exit which Pioneer may take over.
Panasonic blu ray player for so long, they never have come to SG.

Then why not save up more for the X800 then....since it's more stable after the previous firmware update which solve the previous issue....

Oppo from now still king leh even they exit the market...their 203 is very good and it worth more than the Cambridge audio CXUHD which is more expensive why not fork out more...save up for that....I also brought my 205 recently even is their last batch.....the 203 actually have more stock than 205 due to it's pricing....

X800 is not available locally, if buy from US voltage will be a issue.
X800 does not have Dolby Vision support unlike X700.
I agree Oppo are the high end brand for blu ray player.

Rumor is Pioneer may take over but not confirm.

I wondering why ppl going for X700 despite it's problem top up a few hundred bucks more you could get something like a xbox one x which support Dolby atmos and HDR maybe Dolby vision might be added in for future updates you still able to play games like upcoming halo 6 and etc...in build streaming service like netflix, youtube and etc....the only down side i see is the fan noise due to the processing power.... or can wait for the new panasonic new line up coming soon...there are budget version of it as well
Unless there's an official statement on DV, don't hold your breath ..
4k TV buyers in our forum are typically not the Oppo $1000-2000 buyers. In fact most won't even own a 4k player. So the Sony has to be priced to sell ..

I see...that's why i mention xbox one x cause it was $699 vs $419...$280 difference you got yourself a gaming console as well which plays 4k games....next time after market sell off also price will not affect so much than normal bluray players...cause there will be always new bluray players releasing.....your current bluray player if u don't want anymore might not be able to sell off easily....but as a console is easier to sell it off

Reason why blu ray player are harder to sell is because very few still play Blu ray disc.
Most opt for Netflix or Android box or downloaded movies so no one want to buy a blu ray player.

Rida Video Center but I think for rent.
You may have to call them or whatsapp check whether they
have a copy to sell or not.

No more stock at HN Millenia..

Just a update to those looking for UBP-X700.
It seems islandwide no more stock.
Stock may come tomorrow, hopefully can get one.

Wow Sony SG, why limited stock?
Most customer should be using 4K TV so shouldn't be that hard to sell.
At $314 now, it beat Samsung and LG pricing.

Once the store where I reserve call, I chiong immediately! :s13:

Saw the price of Samsung UBD-M8500 (2017 model) now selling at S$399...

Still expensive than the Sony one.
But Samsung one got plenty of stock, Sony one is like rare pokemon. :s13:
If see it must hoot, don't think like myself.

Think go around see who got better pricing cuz that time
didn't know got Sony day promo.
Thought wait a while than when promo kick in gg.

Whole island no stock. :s22:
I did not go everywhere to scout, just ask the store about
UBP-X700 stock than I know it is limited.
Already place reservation at Sony store hopefully they got stock.
