I have not done wired Internet speedtest for a while with the Acer Swift Go14 Laptop 2024 model.

Singtel 5Gbps Fibre Internet plan
Acer Swift Go14 Laptop 2024 model
IOcrest USB4/TB4/TB3 10Gbe RJ45 adapter (Marvell AQC103 chipset).

I got very similar results with XikeStor USB4/TB4/TB3 10Gbe RJ45 adapter old model (Marvell AQC103 chipset, new model has AQC113C chipset)

1) Singtel ONR 10Gbe bridged port --> Intel N100 Mini PC PVE+ Virtual OpenWRT -- 10Gbe/2.5Gbe Switch -- Acer Laptop

Bash:
PS C:\work\networking\ookla-speedtest-1.2.0-win64> .\speedtest.exe -s 5935

As MacBook Neo has no TB4/USB4/TB3 port, my 10Gbe TB4/USB4/TB3 adapters become useless.

But cheap 5Gbe USB 3.2 Type C adapter (WaveLink, RealTek RTL8126 chipset) works fine.

Singtel ONR bridged --> OpenWRT main router with dual 10Gbe SFP+ ports and dual 2.5Gbe ports --> Fibre Cable --> 10Gbe/2.5Gbe switch with one 10G SFP+ port, one 10Gbe RJ45 port and quad 2.5Gbe ports --> MacBook Neo with 5Gbe adapter

Bash:

Can share the taobao link pls?

There are a few vendors.

Take note you need to have USB 3.2 Gen 2 X 2 (20Gbps) port to be able to fully utilise the adapter.

1) IOCREST, RMB 319

4) There are other brands as well but may not be as well-known as the above. There may be cheaper price elsewhere but the above links are from the official Taobao/Tmall Flagship Store.

IMHO.
Not sure if i have read wrongly - the Xikestor max out something like 7000 Mbps.

On the other hand, for those with USB4 40Gbps port, I will recommend the USB4/TB4 10Gbe adapter which should be more stable.

Brands in the first page, like Acasis, Orico, IOCrest, XikeStor (out of stock now), Gris, etc.

I have three of them and all three are working fine: IOCrest, XikeStor old black version (AQC107) and Gris. Gris is less well-known.

All the RTL8159 10Gbe adapters may have some performance limitations, depending on the host platforms. If the host has good enough performance, from what I read, it should be able to achieve good results, above 9Gbps. Local ISPs' 10Gbps plans will be below 8.3Gbps so kind of good enough.

Same, all the RTL8157 5Gbe adapters will have some performance limitations, depending on the host platform.

As per the following review, IOcrest DR59R11 10Gbe adapter based on RTL8159 can reach 9.5 Gbps download, 8.5 Gbps upload, using "iperf3 -P4", without using Ethernet Jumbo Frame.

As per the following review, XikeStor RTL8159 10Gbe adapter can reach 9.5Gbps download and 9Gbps upload using iperf3, but then the speed seems to fluctuate a bit. Maybe it has something to do with the 11th Gen CPU Intel system.

The OpenSpeedTest results are worse, probably related to the server HW specifications.

This seems to be new, WaveLink USB4/TB4 10Gbe adapter (seems not available from Taobao yet), the reviewer can achieve 9.5Gbps download /upload with OpenSpeedTest.

The three of them, which machine you are using ?
I think for my case, my machines are the limiting factor although I have Intel TB4. :ROFLMAO:

Two Laptops.

Acer Swift 14 Go 2024 model, Intel Core Ultra 5 125H CPU, 16GB/1TB model, Windows 11 25H2 and Ubuntu 26.04 beta dual boot (was Ubuntu 25.10)

Acer Swift 3 2021 model, Intel Core i5-1135G7 CPU, 16GB/512GB model, Windows 11 25H2 and Ubuntu 20.04 dual boot

Both have USB4/TB4 port.

Mine is the Asus VivoBook 15 ( 2020 ) with Intel Core i7-11657G with TB4. I think could be my Windows 10 limiting my Orico 10Gbe TB4. 🤔 :ROFLMAO:

Incidentally, my Lenovo with USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port can run quite fast with 5Gbe USB adaptors. 🤔

I got one, Realtek RTL8127 (PXE) but not installed yet.
The Intel ones prices have plunged.

Which Intel NICs you are looking at?

Intel 82599/X520 based single or dual 10Gbe SFP+ NICs and Intel X540 based single or dual 10Gbe RJ45 NICs are always pretty affordable. The price can be dirt cheap if you buy from Taobao for second hand server NICs. They are not compatible with 2.5Gbe/5Gbe though.

Intel X550 and X710 chipsets are more recommended now.

Intel X550-T1/T2 dual 10Gbe RJ45 NICs are reasonably priced. Second hand server NICs can be pretty cheap.

X710-DA2 based dual 10Gbe SFP+ NICs seems to be pretty affordable as well from Taobao now.

X710-T2L based dual 10Gbe RJ45 NICs seems to be still relatively expensive.

I am not into the PCIe network card now since I only have one low end AMD Ryzen 5 5600G CPU based based desktop (Dynacore Invader PC, bought in August 2024 at S$597, 16GB/1TB, built-in graphics card).

I have bought the following two cheap NICs to go with the desktop.

1) Intel X520-DA2(82599ES) dual 10Gbe SFP+ NIC (second hand xFushion 超聚变 server NIC at RMB 110)

2) RTL8126 5Gbe adapter (IOcrest RTL8126 based, RMB 89)

Both are working fine under Windows 11 and Ubuntu 24.04.

But take note Intel no longer supports old X520/X540 NICs in their latest driver packages. I was using an old version to install the driver last time under Windows.
