It is good for computer speakers, and its hard to find better at this price.
here are my comments =p

i feel theres a "gap" between the bass and the midrange, its as if the crossover is not done very well.

The volume control knob has a diameter thats way too small. Its very hard to make fine adjustments to the volume level.

For the wattage, it gets rather hot

the high notes is not well executed.

The output to the speakers from the sub should use RCA to RCA, not that wierd RCA on one side, bare wire on the other setup. Its going to be hard to find a replacement.

grills to the speakers should be removable and replaceable

It is very well constructed overall, other than the quirks listed above

Midrange is solid, and the bass is strong if you turn it to high

For those of you who uses wmp, any of you turns on SRS freqently or all the time? I find that with it on and played at louder volume, the speakers starts hissing and cracking esp on the mids, with it off, it does really well even at loud volumes.

I also have tried out turning on surround sound function on the old soundcard software, its quality of sound degraded badly to that of an cheap speaker.

Does that happen to any of you if you uses software to customise certain settings?

same..when i turn on smart volume of the xonar dx the hissing get real loud but when off you can only hear when ur ear get really close to the sat

I use the Asus stx card, and i dont really have this problem when playing with the driver. I prefer not to have any eq in general though

The SRS effects add distortion and cracking to some parts of the music. Especially TruBass which distorts plain bad.

Right, is this only on AM or across the board. Regardless, i wonder why they have SRS if it simply spoils a nice piece of music. I wonder how some of you can still smile listening to it on SRS and even uses sandbox? Smart vol on asus sc software screws up the sound. surround and with any srs or trubass usage made it unlistenable. Bottomline is anything soft is unnatural Go hard if you want better sound.

I turn off TruBass totally but use WOW with my home setup and used to use them with many computer speakers, it is very beneficial if you need the extra feeling of space if you have small speakers or a cramped-up setup like my current one. I don't use it for my other current setups including headphones however.

To answer your first question, it seems to be almost across the board but is more apparent during complicated/congested/loud passages, it sounds a bit like clipping and I suspect the cause to be so. Forget AM/MP3, it also happens with uncompressed music that are not well-mastered. A recent amp upgrade revealed more pops and crackles due to WOW that were not obvious before, and with cheaper setups that don't reveal the noise from WOW the benefit outweighs the cons, so that answers your second question.

And, let me guess, you used the effects over 50% mark?

of coz there are higher end soundcards, but I think prelude should suffice.

I'm using xtremusic with Opamp mod and imo, aego already sounds so nice.

On the Aego M,

The worse i've had TruBass on was 50% with SRS on and on the m-audio software with SRS on and 70%. Distorts real bad lololx

I suppose its acceptable for folks who listens to more musical genres even if SRS is on with TruBass on a custom level of their comfort.

I wanted to know more on how forgiving the Aego M can be on bad or mediocre recordings with SRS and other software enhancements. There are different players being used too, 4 or 5 good ones for consumers.

heh, i bought the Aego M hoping that it would be warm and non-fatiguing which makes mediocre recordings relatively listenable, but still shine on the well recorded stuff, even thou its just hooked on an old m-audio card.

prelude from where? and the avg cost? haha i'm just a normal user, dun need high end... too chor to hoot.
