agree with u ... agoda normally u pay how much, they refund u back
expedia would have the currency conversions ...
15% is considered alot in Singapore instance for Expedia .
Normally is 10% ... sometimes app price seems lower too ...
I have been choosing Agoda because the price we see is the price we pay (for Pay now) for many years now. Imagine my surprise when the amount differs from my credit card bill.
I did a comparison between my payment mode for Oct and Nov 2017. One was done through Paypal and the other through Apple pay but both using the
SAME card.
The one paid via Paypal was charged the exact same amount as what the invoice showed and merchant name is PAYPAL *AGODACOMPAN (which I have confirmed with the bank that it is
LOCAL merchant).
The one paid via Apple pay was charged more than the invoice and merchant name is AGODA RESERVATION INTERNET GBR (which I have confirmed with the bank that it is a
FOREIGN merchant in UK hence the FX/admin fee will apply by the bank).
Conclusion: Either Agoda has shifted its merchant overseas or the mode that you pay through Agoda is important.
Update: Anything booked through Apple Pay goes through the UK merchant which will incur additional 1% association fee (Visa, Mastercard, etc).
Anything booked through Paypal is considered local so no surprise when you get your credit card bill.
