Scored a Samsung AX041 (not the AX40) at SGD 45. Difference is that it has a wee wee bit higher CADR (347 m3/hr as tested by the China test agencies) and is 220-240V and 50/60Hz instead of the Korean AX40's 220V 60Hz.
Serial label states 2015/04 manufacture, so i suppose just been used for one season in 2015.

This locally retail available AX041 retails for SGD 485.

Looks wee bit nicer also from the front coz got one acrylic and silver accent at the edges.

Saw it just 2hrs after listing, whack.

Now for the hard work, need 1.5hrs to dismantle everything including blower and wipe down with alcohol.

$45. Good buy!

The "problem" with second hand is that need to fully dismantle everything and do a complete wipedown, even if it's pretty new (eg used for 1 very light season, 2016). If it's a really old one, then yeah....maybe need 2-2.5hrs instead of 1.5-2hrs. But still, need the elbow grease.

I cleaned once for a second hand Sharp FU-Z31 before.....took me nearly 2hrs. But later sold it.

Wipedown with alcohol....everything, including each and every single blower vane. Else i do not feel good with the "smell", though it's like 99.5% gone when the HEPA is taken out, ie no smell detectable.......but psychologically got smell.

That other people's house smell. :( :o

Else the Samsungs are all workhorses......no issue even if 24/7 operation at full blast for many years. Serious.

Only TB, Amazon, Ebay and carousell (personal ones, not those selling with > 1k positive reviews ones) can share links...... heh. And qoo10 overseas ones.....like those AX40 korean sellers.
Heck, you'd need to get the stuff one way or another.

Local based sellers, a bit sensitive. But i think this thread still ok, but apparently not in those threads like AC service recommendation etc.

Hi all, I bought Samsung AX40 at the recommendations of the expert here and also the filters from taobao but I went abit too enthusiastic with the purchase and end up have quite abit of hepa filter. Pls let me know if u want the filter, one is need fixed nicely one, the other need to do a little customisation to fit.

They won't expire one, so no worries even if you keep for 5, 10 years.

It might pick up the smell of your store room though, so do triple wrap it in airtight plastic bags.

search the thread. someone list out the difference of gen1 gen2 and pro

cos he own all 3.

qoo10 lazada with coupons and discounts for deals.

Seems most of discussions recently are on gen2, was thinking if pro is worth the money as it is a lot more ex.

I hv one ax40 too. Believe there is an indicator to tell u if the filter should be changed. Any idea if this indicator can be relied on?

Hi, I have the Samsung AX40 which I bought over a yr ago. The filter seems a bit dusty now. Can I clean it and reuse? Or must I buy new filters. Where's a good place to get the filter? I remember last time there was a link from taobao to get the filters. But if I remembered correctly, they are thicker and some parts have to be removed to fit them in. Can anyone comment? Thanks!

filtration.
its using hepa filter. hepa standard is all the same.
air coming out at the outlet has been tested before too.
better filtration / functionality wise.

to me after comparison xiaomi 2 is good enough and much cheaper, but her mentality is tiong product = quality not so good :s22:

Filtration no issue. Have tested with my B4 previously. Shows zero PM2.5 reading on Gen 2 outlet. Confirm clean air out.

If functionality refers to emitting negative ions etc, then Xiaomi purifiers are out.

End of the day, harmony comes first. Sharp is not a bad brand either. :)

easier to buy and cheap to replace

Seems most of discussions recently are on gen2, was thinking if pro is worth the money as it is a lot more ex.

I didn't blast Gen2 for consecutive days when I had them before cos' that time, it will auto trigger back to auto mode. Probably app / firmware issue. Gen1 no issue. I only operate at mid speed when I had them. No issue. Hi speed especially Jet mode is too noisy. Jet mode - probably will feel anytime might give way. :s13:

I had tested on my Pro. Blasted for consecutive 3 days 24 x 7. No smoke coming out. :D

After that, every night till now, have been switching on (Favourite mode). Day time on standby mode (didn't off the main power supply from wall socket).

Till date, no sign of weakening. Motor still going strong. Unlike my previous AX40 (made in Korea), after several months, the fan speed weakens as compared to another new AX40 set. (Despite changing to a new filter). Maybe I had a lemon set ba.

Anyway, the point is, XiaoMi purifiers are reasonable durable imo. How long will it last, I also dunno. So far so good. Previously I also sceptical about China products. :D

But not for purifiers.... XiaoMi purifiers good enough for me. Valuable and works well. :)

But of course Pro is the most expensive. So worth or not worth, depends on individual. Gen1 / Gen2 does its job relatively decent and good too. Anyway, filters are interchangeable. Can use in any of the 3 models. :)

Anyone bought a dehumidifier beside air purifier?

After getting an air purifier I intend to get one dehumidifier to lower our high humidity in the room.

There doesn't seem much discussion on dehumidifier than air purifier here.

I bought one from TaoBao; whilst it's good for the price, it's not a long term solution (for SG) unless you consistently seal the room.

In fact, your aircon probably has dry-mode, which works to dehumidify the room.
